Pros: Great archival prints, lots of pro features, separate ink tanks
Cons: Cost, slower than its competition, complex, paper selection is critical
Like many veteran photographers, I've always regarded shooting images and printing images as two distinct and completely separate art forms. There were (and are) of course exceptions, photographers who were also great printers (Ansel Adams and Bill ...
Pros: This printer will do everything I want to do. Cons: I have no negative comments about this model printer.
This printer is currently my flagship printer. It has a print resolution of 2880 X 1400 dpi, and can use roll paper 13" wide or sheet paper up to 13 X 19 inches. For those who might want to make a panoramic print, this is the printer that can do the job. ...
Pros: Wide format. Highest resolution, best color matching. 7 separate ink cartridges. Excellent ink consumption. Quiet. Cons: Slow. Really big footprint. High price.
I run a small business printing gothic tee shirts and my printer is one of the most important parts of my equipment list. In fact without it I’m dead in the water. That’s why when an electrical storm took out my 5 year old Epson Stylus Photo 1280 I was ...
Pros: Most beautiful photos ever, large format, quiet, good looking, easy to use. Cons: Blacks are too flat, Airport Express support lacking
I've liked Epson printers since my Stylus 740, but the newer generation really makes me understand what was wrong with the older ones. In the old days, Ink tanks were a problem with single cartridges for all the colors, and the nozzles would clog up ...
Pros: Beauty of the machine, the print size, quality gorgeous! Ability to handle third party papers. Cons: There are no cons with this printer. The only cons are with the people.
This printer is awesome!!!! Had I listened to all those Epson bashers out there, I would not have bought this printer. I personally investigated this printer for over one year! Now I have it in my home.Got it on Dec 29, 04 and made my first print on Dec ...
Pros: Attractive printer. Prints text very quickly. Cons: Photos are not true to color after some initial use.
I purchased this printer in 2004 for the sole purpose of restoring and reproducing family photographs. And it was, at first a fabulous printer. With Photohop software to "mend" old photos, and the pigment based (as in lasts almost forever) inks, I thought I had a good thing going. I made several groupings of photos for family members and myself.
Now, that my work load is really taking off, I have found the color photos are not printing true and that black and whites have an eery purple cast. Upon much web research, I have found that this is not uncommon with Epson. One can fiddle around with color profiles and lots of settings until one is in tears, but that isn't exactly the experience I was hoping for. I'll edit color when I have to, but to have to reset it for every print? I don't think so!
So, I'm looking at Canons and HPs. And checking out the info BEFORE I buy.
Pros: None I can find nothing in the pro range for this clunker of a printer. Cons: Poor color, expensive cartridges ,
poor support, Epson doesn't care about customer satisfaction.
I purchased my Epson 2200 the last day of 2004. Right from the start the print quality was terrible. I previously owned an Epson 1520 which produced beautiful prints but it had just worn out. Based on my experience with the 1520 I figured the 2200 would be even better-what a disappointment!I purchased a Lexmark 4200 for the fax machine and although it can only print 8.5 x 11, the prints are fantastic compared to the Epson 2200. The only thing Epson told was to be sure my monitor was calibrated. I purchased the Spyder Pro and do weekly calibrations on the Microtek C997SD LCD monitor but my prints never even come close to the screen image but the cheap Lexmark does. It is apparent the 2200 was not very good as they shortly after came outn with the 1800 and the 2400. Based on my experience with Epson and the 2200 I would never even look at one of their printers.
Good printer? Not in my experience! by alanrockwood ,Oct 01 '05
Pros: Archival quality inks.
Capability for large paper size. Cons: Poor print quality.
Expensive consumables.
I am very disappointed with my Epson Stylus Photo 2200 printer.
I have had it for about a year. In all that time I have not been able to get decent looking prints of my digital photos. The prints have strong color cast and poor saturation. This is when using the recommended Epson Enhanced Matte Paper and is true regardless of which software package I use to print the photos.
I bought the Epson for its promise of archival quality prints and better looking prints than those I have been getting from my cheap HP printer. Unfortunately, I have found that my HP printer makes much better looking prints, and the archival quality of the Epson is wasted because the prints don't look good.
I have spent an enormous amount of time and money on this printer, including a lot of time on trouble shooting and including some communication with Epson. I went so far as to buy a spectrophotometer to build my own printer profiles. Nothing has worked.
Pros: Nothing I can find Cons: Only last a short time and then more to fix than worth
Never again would I even consider any Epson product. I have a 1 to 1-1/2 year old printer that is garbage, more to repair Epsons problem than the worth of the printer. This is not to mention class action lawsuits I read about where Epson screws the public on ink refills. When working my epson ate ink and refills are very expensive. Just type Epson and lawsuits in Google to learn more. I've learned my lesson!!!
Pros: Great print quality Cons: Wastes ink
Very expensive operating costs.
I love the quality of the prints, in particular B&W, but beware, this printer will be very expensive in regards to Ink. A full set of ink will cost you over $100.- I owned this printer for more than 1/2 year now and have not printed a single color picture with it, only black and white and have really only used it very rarely (50 letter pictures max and 500 test pages) but I needed to replace all color inks multiple times already (colors are used for BW prints too). You need to understand that whenever you turn the printer on/off, plug it in the usb, or take it out, or print something after not printing for a while, or you simply swap the photo black for the matte black it will do a full head cleaning with all colors and waste precious ink. For a printer in this price range this is very disappointing. IMO just a cheap way for Epson to make lots of money on ink. You will pay the price of the printer multiple times in a couple of years in ink!
