Apple PowerBook G4 15.2 in. (M8623LL/A) Mac Notebook

Pros: operating system does not crash
Cons: Manufacturing defect leads to lcd screen cracking.High price and repair costs. Poor customer relations.

Within six months of purchase, the lcd cracked. I believe that faulty assembly allowed about 1/8 inch play/settling on the right side where the cd drive lies. When the lid is closed, the right side travels more than the left side that encounters a firm base. This puts the left side of the screen/lid under stress upon closing, that can crack the lcd screen.
Apple's technical support and customer relations would not cover it under both the 1 year warranty and the 3 year Apple warranty that were in force. They wanted $1300 to fix the lcd screen.
I am very disappointed in the product's defect and Apple's unprofessional customer relations that tried to blame the customer for its manufacturing problem.
After spending $2500 for that powerbook, $300 for Apple care, Apple expects to customer to pay another $1300 to fix a manufacturing defect. I cannot justify spending $5000 for a laptop that will become obsolete in 3 years.

I used NT boxes for post production and found this machine could almost do the same AND be portable. Great for Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Combustion, etc. Now doing full length shows on laptop and loving it. Great with burning product masters with QT 6.0 and internet, network and wireless have been perfect. Stll keep the NT boxes though. Guess I can't believe it yet! Have done at least 30 articles and actually did VO with computer mic and client could not tell difference ....only in America! cheers! to all

THE G4 CHIP IS VERY QUICK IT SEEMS FASTER THAN THE INTEL 4.AT THIS POINT IT'S ALL NEW TO ME,THE ONLY REASON I CHOOSE THE IBOOK IS FOR IT'S REPUTATION FOR WORKING WITH COMPUTER MUSIC.PC ARE TO GAME AND VIDEO OREINTATED.GREAT TOY.
