Its ok But were is the Floppy

by Tigerf16 , Jan 07 '00
Pros: fast high memory
Cons: no floppy drive
G3 450mHz 320MBRam ... Kinda pricey. I use a Dell Optiplex GX1 at work, an O.K. machine (PII 366mHz 128MbRam) My Mac at home can handle (w/ VPC 3.0) the same programs faster than the Dell! The lack of a floppy drive seems like a shortcoming but its...

Generation 3 Screams!

by wayne.rathwell , Dec 22 '99
Pros: Ease of use.
Cons: Cost.,Smaller selection of Software available.
Most people wonder why it is that Apple Computers is still around and how can it be that they are actually in the Black these days and not bleeding Red all over the place. I know, I was one of the millions of Wintel users that wondered at the staying...

Look out ol' Mackie is back!!

by dsedey , Dec 20 '99
Pros: A lot of bang for your buck
Cons: OS 8.6 has a few bugs (typical though)
OK so you thought Apple was washed up. Think again!!

I have owned Macintosh computers since the first Apple IIe hit the market. Some models hit the mark and a few models didn't make the cut. The Apple Power Mac G3 however, is the Mac of my...

Not Just a Pretty Face

by nicoletranger , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, blazingly fast machine - good expansion capability
Cons: Apple keyboard & mouse with G3 are awkward.
Where to begin ... I was on the verge of jumping ship, "The Rest of Us" were taking it on the chin ... but when I saw this baby I had to have it.

I purchased the Power Mac 400 MHz G3 in early summer and my love affair continues....

G3 450 is first class

by kahuna1342 , Dec 21 '99
Pros: Fast, Stable, Expandable
Cons: Keyborad, Mouse
I purchased this product in August of 1999. This system was acquired for digital video editing. It has been an excellent system. Fast, stable and stylish. By having built in Firewire it was pretty much ready to go out of the box for DV. I am using Final...

THE BEST COMPUTER

by grickabaugh , Dec 14 '99
Pros: THE BEST
Cons: EARLY FAST SCSI I/O

The best computer I have ever worked with. This computer is fast, rapid screen draws. Photoshop did not even slow it down. With Roadrunner access each page was displayed right after I pointed to it. The ultra wide and fast scsi interface was...

Ahhhh, Now this is speed!

by stsimon56 , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Performance, looks, speed, realibility
Cons: Shunned by Windows fanatics
Wow, I love my Mac. It is fantastic. So much faster than the Dinosaur Window thing I use at work. I wonder when my employer is going to wake up and replace all those Dinosaurs with new beautiful, Macs. The machine crashes about 99% less than those...

Like an exotic sports car fast and hard to maintain

by Sam.Strain , Dec 23 '99
Pros: Fast
Cons: Not as idiot proof as a PC
The Mac G3's (blue and white) are superfast but be prepared for a bumpy ride.

In the last year and a half I've had three macs and two PC's. The first was a solid 9600/233, the second was a G3/233 (gray), and the most current is a G3/400 w/128...

G3 is different

by fritzair , Dec 18 '99
Pros: Case,speed,system software
Cons: Lack of SCSI, modem
The G3 has some great features, and some features which were lost in the "think different" speak of Apple marketing. Owning Apples from A Mac512 to a G3 with several stops in between, I could not understand the excluded SCSI port. Also, with...

G3 superb performance for the money and a lot of fun

by romm , Dec 23 '99
Pros: cheap, powerful, easy to use
Cons: won't run PC programs
I've used computers from the C-64 to Pentium IIs to the Macs, and the Macs have always been easier to use and more powerful for what I wanted to do. The G3 continues Apple's dominance in the consumer market. Out of the box, it was 25 times faster than...

Cool in spite of color!

by wcmauk , Dec 16 '99
Pros: Well, first and foremost, it's a Mac, which means it is extremely intuitive (user friendly), and allows you to readily move graphics and text from one application to the next.
Cons: Some dummies at Apple left out the floppy! And the cutesy blue and white? Yuk, that's a cheap look to me.
Okay, so now I feel better....I've complained about the cheap looking case. That, and the external floppy are my biggest complaints. The speed of the G3 is amazing. I was moving some big graphic files today....4,000 x size files, in seconds. Is speed...

G3 The Only Computer You Need

by Raven11 , Sep 08 '99
Pros: Blinding speed and reliability
Cons: SCSI ability limited.
I've bee a Mac man since I bought my "SE" back in 1988. The new "Blue G3" is awsome. I retired and trade stocks online (Not A Daytrader) and since most Real-Time quotes are only offered in the Windows 95/98 (DOS Shell) operating...

Power it ain't

by varmit1 , Dec 17 '99
Pros: it has neat colorful handles built in
Cons: It has a little round mouse that's a joke in the trade
I have been using Macintosh computers in a small manufacturing concern since the Mac+ days.

I recently purchased a "G-3" and immediately felt gipped. Apple has "decided" that they would no longer support a floppy disk...

Yes its pretty pathedic!

by mdsbrain , Jan 11 '00
Pros: Looks
Cons: Poor Quality hardware for a high price!!
Yes, I may be a pc fan but this is rediculous. Apple's G3 isn't good for someone who is upgrading from a pc or just plain upgrading. Or think about trying to use the new OS. I use a G3 in my school's MAC lab. It freezes at every chance it gets. And in...

Convert at the church of Mac

by kpenz , Apr 22 '00
Pros: Power, user-friendly, PC crushing performance
Cons: You have to look hard to find the Mac software rack at the electronics store, high price
I used to call them "Mac zealots." The people who blindly clung to their Macintosh computers in the face of PC domination, and would sooner open a vein than use a Microsoft product.

Then came the G3. I bought the 300 MHz processor,...
