  • A great system

    Nov 7, 2004 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: G5 speed, screen size, easier upgradability.
Cons: Built-in speakers could be better.

Summary: I've been using a flat-panel iMac since the 17 inch G4 model came out 2 years ago, and was starting to get a bit frustrated with the screen size & mediocre CPU speed, so when the new G5 iMacs were announced I knew I'd be upgrading. I placed an order at ... read more

  • iMac G5 perfect for over a year!

    Oct 25, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Reliable, fast, excellent screen and no virus problems!
Cons: None for what I purchased the machine for.

Summary: I've had my iMac G5 20" computer for well over a year now and have experienced zero downtime with the machine. In addition I've experienced only a single crash, due to an errant program, and no viruses or other problems. Granted, this is not my first ... read more

  • Outstanding bang for the buck

    Jun 11, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Literally flawless. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more of these.
Cons: Trivial sound port placement. Retarded keyboard design.

Summary: I took delivery of five identical 20" iMac G5s, 1.8GHZ and Superdrive. The only change from spec was to add 1GB to each machine. Since the intended user for the 5th machine left the company right before delivery, I had no choice but to take it as my work ... read more

  • Best iMac yet

    May 13, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Great looks, runs well, flys on the 'net.
Cons: Standard memory is not enough.

Summary: The iMac G5 is my third Mac computer. I suppose one of the frustrations of owning a Macintosh is that the things rarely play up (I have never had a service call on any Macintosh computer yet), and the only reason that I have ever had to update is because ... read more

  • Finest computer I've ever used!

    Apr 4, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Very reliable, stable & fast. Great hardware design... and of course great looks!
Cons: Not a machine for hardcore-gamers!

Summary: I've (very intensively) used the iMac G5 for over six months now... and I just love it. I can't help it, I really do. As a graphic designer I ask a lot from any computer I work with. Most of of all I want a computer to be stable: it should perform any ... read more

Pros: Nice looking, excellent software, no cable mess, no adware/spyware/virus epidemic
    Cons: Warranty service is unacceptable

Pros: Regained a lot of deskspace! Strong Unix based OS.
Cons: You must add more memory to your order (512MB-1024GB)

Summary: This is my first Macintosh computer. I switched from Windows XP and could not be happier. We bought the 20" model with 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD. I was concerned about software before I bought it but did my research and found everything I would need. ... read more

Pros: Sleek, clean and uncluttered, very fast and friendly
Cons: Need a mouse with a scroll wheel.

Summary: I just converted from a PC based world to a new iMAC G5 and I'm never going back. I won't go into all the detail already discussed in the previous 2 reviews but I will say that it is worth the extra money to go for a MAC. I love its utter simplicity ... read more

  • Sleek is the word

    Nov 24, 2004 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Sleek, stylish, fast, gorgeous. Great apple ease of use.
Cons: video card. 256 MB of RAM makes a horrible first impression. Bluetooth not amazing.

Summary: My 400 MHz Sawtooth G4 was nearing the end of it's life as a professional machine. It got to the point where I was procrastinating editing video projects or updating my portfolio and website. Some of this was due to it's aging specs and some was due to ... read more

Pros: Excellent media machine; easy to make family DVDs
Cons: Risky reliability--not worth the investment

Summary: There is a price behind the cosmetics...poor manufacturing.  Had my iMac for 3 yrs (almost to the day) and then Major malfunction. Defective logic board (aka motherboard).  Apple is apparently taking legal action against the manufacturer ... read more

    Cons: Software, compatibility and expense

Summary: I cannot fault my machine. This is my first Mac and love the OS, the potential that the machine holds and what I might do with it. I have it more than three months and don't think I have pushed it hard enough to even begin testing the capabilities. What ... read more

Pros: Just one cord (for power), thanks to optional Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Cons: Can't upgrade graphics. Built-in speakers don't deliver much bass.

Summary: Ease of set-up and use cannot be beat. It's quick and capable, and the superdrive is a great option. The built in software is great. 100% uptime, no downtime. Screen is quite attractive and can display significant amounts of data. Machine at work ... read more
