Pros: Size, Hard drive space, Performance, Very high quality, Easy to use Cons: PRICE!, Scratches easily
The other one of the popular iPods that is commonly purchased is the 30GB iPod. The 30GB model has obviously three times the capacity of the 10GB iPod which lets you store, much, much, much more songs! However, the difference between the 10GB ...

Pros: works with audible.com; small, sleek Cons: musicmatch box and windows XP may not be a good match for the ipod yet
When the PC version of Ipod was introduced, I eyed it with quite a bit of skepticism. It just didn't seem possible that a Mac product could successful bridge the gap into the PC world; rather like species jumping the gene pool. Despite my doubts, I ...
Pros: Sleek, sexy, capacious hard drive, easy to use, great customer service. Cons: Short battery life, a little delicate (like all hard drive devices)
Update: I got a couple of letters from Apple regarding the settlement of the class-action lawsuit brought against Apple. It seems like the batteries in the iPods are junk, which I discovered, only lasting a few hours instead of the 12 that was ...
Pros: Absolutely desirable, high quality, high capacity MP3 jukebox with a great interface. Cons: Poor(ish) battery life
With the latest crop of MP3 players, and particularly the newer ‘click-wheel’ generation of the iPod, it may seem odd to post a review of a now discontinued model. But 30Gb 3rd generation iPods are still available as refurbished units from some sources, ...
Pros: Lightweight, backlit display, easy music access, holds contacts and games Cons: Short battery life, non-replacable battery, no digital out
I just purchased an Ipod 30GB (3rd generation), mostly for playing music and audio books (from Audible.com). I was using my Ipaq 3835 Windows CE Device for these things, but I was frustrated by its small storage capacity. On the Ipod, I now have 3500 ...

Well, what can I say about the Ipod? The Ipod is a great tool but it is limited in it's capabilities. The Ipod does have a lot of features, but it only excels at one of them, playing music. It can store notes, photos, videos, but it plays music the ...

Apple REALLY got the details on this thing right, and the software is simplicity itself (I have tried Music Match and other MP3 players and they all pale -- very badly). The belt clip is WONDERFULLY tight so it's secure. If I could fix just one thing ...

Best Gadget I have ever purchased by rob-bair ,Feb 13 '04
Pros: itunes software, user interface, HD size, smart playlists, name that tune game Cons: battery life is ~6hrs, shiny case shows smudges
Granted, there are many cheaper mp3 players out there, but there are few that can hold your entire music collection all at once. anyone who grew up lugging their record collection around will appreciate this concept. Every piece of music i own fits easily in my shirt pocket and can be played randomly or anyway I choose.
What takes this product from a good product to a great product is the software. anyone who has tried to manage a large collection with playlists with musicmatch, windows media player or anything else will be in shock at how intuitive the whole process now is.
My iPod worked for the first two weeks and then it just kept freezing up and crashing my windows xp. May be other people have better luck, but I spend way too much time trying to make it work. By the way, Apple support is hostile to PC users.
Pros: Huge capacity, great quality Cons: scratches real easy, skips mp3's, can't move files to pc
The holy grail of mp3 players, supposedly. The ipod does have it's high points, but it also has its low points, no doubt about it. Of course any one with any connection to apple will tell you that it's flawless, but for my 300 bucks, it definitely has flaws. Just because it doesn't use a cd means it doesn't skip, right? Wrong, the ipod will skip when the hard drive spins or if you have a lot of mp3 files on there that you did not convert to AAC. Yeah, most of the time, I love my ipod, but sometimes, I hate it and want to throw it at a wall or something. Yes, it will holds huge amounts of music, but it will also get a lot of scratches when you remove it from the protective wrapping, trust me. Just know what you're buying and be on the look out.
i love this item buy it if you have a chance by justice6 ,Jan 11 '06
Pros: beauty porability storage Cons: the back scuffs up easyly
i recently bought my Ipod on Ebay and i have to say this is the greatest purcheses i have ever made. from its sleek look to its storage space it is perfection in a box. many people say 1 it is over priced or 2 who needs that much storage space. well i have one thing to say go buy your i-river or sony 2 gb see the quality you get from them. and it is not a matter of needing but a mater of wanting. i no wear near hade 20 gb of music but that is ok because i use imesh and tunebite. if u want to know more about the wonders of free leagal music contact me at bennycassiday@yahoo.com
Ipod is the best mp3 player ever by sf02468 ,Nov 02 '03
Pros: Lots of space Cons: Expensive
The probably has around the same amount of space as your computer. When you download songs on your computer, even if you have 500 songs, you still have lots of space. The ipod holds 30 gigabytes, that means it can hold around 10000 songs! Its really easy to use and very light too.
Pros: It is an awesome MP3 player, that holds a lot of songs Cons: Battery life can be better, but if you have an A/C outlet... use it
The new apple ipod is a great mp3 player, but many people do not know that it is much more than just that, it has a calendar, notes, a clock, and some (pathetic) games. The games could use some work, but its great for just waiting in line. It is heat activated, so just be sure you have the hold button on. The volume of music you can store on the ipod is virtually impossible to fill up. If you need a great new, sleek, mp3 player, you found the right one! [Just keep your fingers off the classy silver back]
Very easy to use and Fun device by ferralli ,Jan 22 '04
Pros: Large hard drive, holds lots of music Cons: Cold be a bit slimmer
This product is a excellent buy for anyone. You can go out and run while listening to you favorite mp3's without diturbing others. This is also great for the kids who do not want to carry a big CD player around with them. This device will hold all the music you could ever want to listen to.
Pros: Ease of use. Cons: Lack of vehicle-ready devices so you can't listen in your car.
I am not a "gadget person," but I thought I would try an iPod. It was my first "MP3 Player" and it will likely be my last--unless I replace it with another iPod. It is awesome!
iPod 30G my life is now complete by sandraburell ,Jan 17 '06
Pros: Holds all my music, looks cool Cons: I hate scrolling through all my my artist to get to one song
I love this thing! I didnt ever consider myself a music buff, but now that I have every song I own at my fingertips, I cant imagine living without it. The ipod is incredibly convenientbig enough to use easily, but small enough to fit in a pocket or to wear while running. There are so many options, as well, which makes it really useful. I love being able to use it as an alarm clock (when hooked up to external speakers) or as an external hard drive when my computer gets a little too full. My only complaint is that sometimes it feels a little clunky in terms of organizationI often feel like I have to scroll through lots of options to find a song.
Great device, all it has been built up to be! by jmaudsley ,Nov 16 '03
Pros: Interface, utility, and capacity. Cons: Delicacy of case materials.
A class act with virtually endless storage, an incredible interface, and terrific possibilities for use. Highly recommend for audiophiles and those looking for a one-of-a-kind product that has no realistic competitor.
Without having any specific experience with an mp3 player before, I finally decided to take the plunge with Apple. I am not disappointed. Although I had tried to use the previous generation iPod at a store and found it difficult and confusing; not with my new iPod. I had no problem getting music into it, perusing what was there, and playing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to.
The programmability, useful features (on-the-go lists), and volume of this device make for, in my epinion, an ideal portable audio device.
As for the con I listed: Delicacy of case materials. It is a beautiful device and the front has gotten scratched too easily, as the back is way to easily fingerprinted, but then again, what fine piece of electronics doesn't require a case of some sort to keep it in good shape? It is well worth it, heck, I was going to buy a case of some sort anyway.
Simple, elegant, and it brings back memories of bygone days. by jackphillips23 ,Feb 02 '05
Pros: Intuitive to use, make your own albums. Cons: Battery life....
I don't want to repeat what other people have raved about the iPod's interface..etc but I just wanted to add that as a 30 pushing on 40 the iPod reminded me of the sensation and joy when I received my first Walkman as a teenager. IMHO the sense of liberation and the ability to "mix my own album" were the first steps towards finding my own "taste" and "clan" in music. Now the iPod w/ iTunes have taken it a step further, I can buy the songs that I like or explore obscure artists' works without risks, I am also happily re-purchasing all the (80s) euro-bands' singles that I used to own on EPs but was too embarassed to buy on CDs when they became available. Now no body has to know...
Pros: Portable, Flexible, Beautiful Cons: Not immediately easy to copy songs from iPod to iTunes
Though the 30GB version of the iPod is no longer in production by Apple, replaced by 40GB, it can be picked up used from a variety of sources. I got mine refurbished from the apple store www.apple.com for roughly $300. When brand new that cost well over $400, that is a steal.
The iPod is essentially an external hardrive with jukebox capabilities. 30GB is a lot space for songs, programs, video files, documents, or whatever, and the Fire Wire connection ensures that data will travel rapidly from your CPU to the iPod.
Managing music is easy. Use iTunes to manage content on the iPod, adding, arranging or deleting songs, simply by dragging and dropping song files to the iPod playlist. The primary downside to the iPod, that I have found, is that there is no native mechanism for transferring songs back from iPod back to your CPU. However, a variety of programs available on the internet work for this.
All in all iPod is a masterpiece. Though, the price tag may seem steep, you will forget spending the money, once you get plugged into iPod.
Pros: It stores upto 75 hours of video playback, 20,000 photos, and 7,500 songs. Cons: battery life and expense r the major concern
