Does the backorder of this product show its true potential?
by zzzlouizzz ,May 02 '04
Pros: small, great sound Cons: scratches easily, freezes sometimes, expensive accessories, hard to find (backordered8weeks)
I was extremely lucky to call the apple store and they had it in. They were not supposed to come in until the end of June the earliest. I love it so far except the first time that I was about to play a song, it frooze and I had to reset it. That was a bit of a scare. I am also afraid of this sound distortion issue. I do not want to have these problems. It does have an amazing sound. The accessories are pointless and expensive to buy (especially the dock.)

Good deal
by jc1104 ,Mar 09 '04
Pros: Small, light, compact, features Cons: Price, sensory may be too hassle
There are many mp3 players out there that offer 10gb, 20gb, for just about 50-100$ more than the mini ipod, and that may seem like a better deal because of the storage but that is nto necessarily true. The mini ipod is good looking, compact, small, light, and have many features. So, if you want a light, feature packed, reasonable storage, and small mp3 player, mini ipod is the one for you. It also comes in many colors that you can choose from.

iBliss with iPod mini
by sdbeachgoer ,Mar 16 '04
Pros: Mini size a huge factor, sound, ease of use, color Cons: Pricey, freezes occasionally, won't hold entire music library
Size is perfect for my purse or jeans pocket. Body doesn't scratch, white face is easy to clean. Battery will last about one work day. Excellent sound, works great with iTunes. Downsides: won't work with my work PC and my home Mac. Controls freeze and need to be reset every couple of days but this isn't a big issue. Can hold iCal (stick to your day runner) and address book (this is a good feature). Will hold about 50-75 CDs. Won't hold your entire library but that's okay: playlists are easier to use and you won't want to cycle through every CD you own on your iPod. Because of this you'll have to manually transfer songs to the mini instead of iSyncing them. I have also dropped this on cement twice and it has held up fine.

I love my mini - especially with Shure E3 earphones
by mcdonley ,Mar 23 '04
Pros: Small size is phenominal, Sound is Great. Cons: Can't leave it docked with computer off (discharges).
I'm up to 922 songs at 2.3gb (1.4gb to go) ripped at 80kbps AAC mostly. Special albums are ripped at 128kbps AAC.
The User Interface of the iPod, and also iTunes, is very good. The user configurable auto playlists work great.
Sound quality is great, especially with my Shure E3 earphones, but also very good with Aiwa Acoustic Plus Earbuds. (iPod earbuds were too big for my ears).
I get a solid 8 hours of listening on a charge.
Current iTunes software is solid, but sometimes doesn't recognize mini, so I have had to reformat mini's disk and re-sync songs onto the unit. No loss of data, just 20 minutes extra time.
iTunes rips CDs so saves spending $20 for MusicMatch Jukebox Plus.

Great product...horrible customer service
by okkko ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: Lightweight, Compact, convenient Cons: Bad service
The product itself is great. It is lightweight, small and has enough memory for my song needs. The only problem was with my battery, after using it about 3 times a week for 3 months the battery wears out completely after 3 hours. So i called to ask if the battery could be replaced. Instead of being able to ask a question, I was told that 90 days had passed since I bought the ipod and would have to purchase an upgrade package in order to ask questions via a phone call. This costs $60 U.S. Simply appalling! While this package also consists of an extended warranty type of deal, you cannot make phone inquiries without it. For the cost of the product, this is robbery.
Four people I know bought the ipod including myself, three of us have had problems that need service. My suggestion- wait until they improve quality before purchasing

Awesome style and performance
by hdtravel ,Oct 29 '04
Pros: Tiny size, perfect sound, easy to use, awesome design. Cons: Monochrome LCD screen
I purchased the blue iPod Mini from my local Target Store for $249.00. This is one outstanding product. Perfect size and form factor. Perfect sound and everything is very well packaged. The operating manual is well done. What else is there to say, it is cool to use and look at, it is tiny, and it sounds heavenly. Watch for a color screen version coming in the future ! Until then buy one !

Brilliant Idea
by bmxer ,Apr 03 '04
Pros: Light as a feather (well, a couple of feathers), extremely high quality Cons: yes, it is a little pricy, but hey, its worth every penny
The Apple Ipods are at the vanguard of mp3 players and the mini is no exception. The sound is incredible:clear and crisp. Mine came in from overseas (somewhere in asia) in 3 days with no extra charges or fees. It is so light and compact that it could practically fit into my wallet.

DOA
by zetacplus ,Dec 12 '04
Pros: None Cons: Brand new unit and it doesn't work
I bought my mini iPod today after much research. I installed the software and operating system and was ready to start downloading music once the unit was fully charged. I never got a chance because I couldn't get the menu button to work. Just my luck :( It makes me skeptical to buy another one. Apple really needs to focus on their quality control or they will lose their customers in a hurry.

iPod Mini Excellent!
by ipodman20 ,Jan 03 '05
Pros: Small. Good sound. Durable. Battery recharger. Cons: Battery runs out fast but is easy and fast to recharge
Lots of people said that the iPod mini broke quickly, but it doesn't. So, if you want a good mp3 player, dont buy it. If you want an EXCELLENT mp3 player go for iPod MINI!

How The Ipod Mini Is Superior To Other Mp3 Players
by mcpettyofficer ,Oct 27 '04
Pros: everything about it! Cons: the ear bud size.
The Ipod mini is one of the most renowned mp3 players in the world.Apple has gotten a reputation of user-friendly,durable and useful. Not only does it 1000 songs, but has a 8 hour battery life.I know that souns low in both areas, but if you are a 13 year old kid like me,you probably arent going to use it more than 8 hours a day,and 1000 songs is alot considering the average music listener has about 15-20 cd's.It is made of unscratchable metal, free music downloads and earbuds. The earbuds is the only plave where I have a problem, they are a tad big for my ears and are not very comfortable, but you can still use different headphones for it if you like.(please excuse my spelling errors.)

Buyer Beware: Static and Distortion Problem
by bguffey222 ,May 31 '04
Pros: Sound and design. Cons: Engineering flaw resulting in unacceptable service.
Had the iPod Mini since February. Distortion problem (described in at least one other review) turned up one week ago. Went to apple.com and read in the forums of others who are having this problem and who have sent their nearly new iPod Minis in for service. I'm doing the same tomorrow. Such a sad problem for such a cool (and cool sounding--before the static problem!--device.

iPod MINI - My PC refuses to acknowledge it's existence
by blastcaps ,Jan 29 '05
Pros: Style, flawless integration with iTunes Cons: Too many bugs & battery life sucks
I bought an iPod mini and fell in love with it, that was until it started to freeze up and I would have to wait for the battery to die in order to get it to work again, eventually the thing shut off and never came back on, all of this took place within the first week I bought it.
My assumption was that I simply got a lemon so I replaced it. I was very fortunate because the next one lasted an entire 16 days. Now my computer refuses to recognize it's existence. I have tried everything including purchasing another USB cable and re-installing I-Tunes and so far my efforts have failed.
I am now sending it in for a replacement voucher at Best Buy. I am hesitant purchasing another iPod but it works so flawlessly with iTunes (when it works)i don't know if i can live without it. Plus I've spent like an additional $100 on accessories, and I don't want them to go to waste.

The World's Best MP3 player
by dareviewer ,Feb 17 '05
Pros: User friendly, Nice design Cons: The click wheel pops out of position sometimes
I got an IPOD Mini as a gift. In the past i've had a sony walkman and a Memorex boombox. They were great cd players. At some point I felt like I needed an ipod. So I got one.At $250 they are very pricey. Definitely worth it. Don't buy the imitation MP3 players. In the end it is the world's best music investment.
