I do not think this is bad Dishwasher
by imulla ,Nov 12 '07
Pros: dishes sparkling clean................ Cons: you need to buy one to know what I am talking about.
Asko is the best Dishwasher I have come across in my life. It is just like a maid who would clean and dry your dishes without a grumble.
all you need to do is keep the filter clean and as you know the filter always has to be at the bottom of the dishwasher. Clean it once a week. a clogged filter will leave residue, dirt and all.
I have mine for the past 7 years and since then have never looked back. every thing has to be maintained and hence do some maintainance.
I am a mechanical engineer and to my understanding this is a product worth buying. I had an old American dishwasher and that was bad. Well I am happy. To this day no service calls. Love this produt.we wash everything that include the pots and pans. Imagine the Indian Cooking. If it can clean the curry pots and pans then imagine the American pots and pans. clean the filter and you will get a good result. you do clean your filters right..

Does not clean dishes
by jennmac ,Jul 24 '06
Pros: Nice looking inside, can attach wood trim to outside, well thought out rack. Quiet. Cons: Doesn't clean dishes, mesh filter needs cleaning every time, breaks down easily.
We had our Asko D1996FI for 4 years and we had to clean the dishes by hand before putting them in the dishwasher. I saw someone else call it the "dish rinser," well, we called it the "sanitizer" because that's all it did. Last week it started to leak and water was pouring out of the bottom. That's all the encouragement I needed to cut my losses and get a decent dishwasher. I went to Sears and purchased a Kenmore. It was ranked 3rd on Consumer Reports for quality and was less than $500.

Stay Away !
by jkish1 ,May 17 '06
Pros: None Cons: Do you like to throw your money away?
We have a 900$ Asko dishwasher - it is 4.5 years old. We have had the appliance person out at least 3 times per year. We have given up and will buy another 900$ dishwasher instead of throw more money at this piece of junk. It's a money pit!

Definitely NOT recommended. Confirmed by Consumers Reports
by nspector ,Aug 09 '04
Pros: Very quiet Cons: Does not clean dishes or glassware.
My rating: Poor
Fails to remove debris from dirty dishes. Does not scour. Even reducing to a half load for more clearance there was residue left on dishes. Failed to clean glassware.
Tech support is useless. They refer you to a local repairman who tells you that if there's nothing mechanically wrong with any of the parts there's nothing they can do.
In my opinion, this unit was badly designed. I call it a DishRinser, not a Dishwasher.
In ratings by Consumers Reports this unit came in dead last

Don't Buy Asko Dishwashers
by wec1439 ,Feb 24 '04
Pros: Quiet Cons: Not reliable, poor product support from Asko, cosmetic panels fall off.
We have had our model 1996 for three years.
The pump and motor failed after 2.5 years of service.
The control panel cover had to be replaced because the button cover came apart.
The top front stainless Steele panel is peeling off. Asko has sent the wrong parts for this model three times.
Would not buy another Asko appliance ever.
