Pros: If you like noise(thumping, squealing and cursing)buy an ASKO. Cons: Too numerous to list.
When we built our new home, we put a lot of thought into our appliance selection. We chose the Asko washer and dryer for its tauted efficiency. The washer used less water and had a very high rpm spin cycle that "nearly eliminated" the need for the ...

Pros: Looks really good, quiet, energy-efficient Cons: VERY expensive, small capacity, lots of wrinkles
I first chose Asko because of a space constraint in a new home, and my mother-in-law had them and they worked out o.k. for her - she was looking to have under-the-counter machines that looked good - these do. Sticker shock - over $3000 for the ...

Pros: Attractive appearance Cons: Laundry is taking more time than ever.
We have been very unhappy with our three Asko appliances since we built our home two years ago. We wanted a front loading washing machine so that we could have a spacious area for folding laundry. We also wanted a quiet dishwasher in our great room. The ...

do not buy this dryer
by compaqted ,Jun 21 '04
Pros: None. Cons: It just doesn't work. Stay away.
I purchased this dryer at a premium price. But it could not dry a load of laundry from the ASKO washer (which is great, BTW).
I had to split the loads into two, sometimes three loads just to get things dry. With three children, this got to be tedious.
The AKSO dryer has an 'overheat' sensor that constantly shut down the dryer. This part was replaced twice, but with no result.
On the fourth visit, the repairman said he had tried to 'fix' numerous Asko dryers. Then he showed me how the airflow through the unit is comical, the fan is tiny, and the heating element is flimsy.
On his last work order, he wrote "Unit cannot be fixed, nothing left to fix. Problem is not enough air to dry standard laundry loads. Design is bad".
By this time I had laundry piling up everywhere, so I cut my losses and went to Sears to get a standard dryer with rotary dials and a moisture sensor for $375 with free shipping, and am happy again. I can put a full load of clean laundry from the washer into this Kenmore and it dries it with no problem whatsoever.

Who wants to wait 4 hours for a load of laundry to dry?
by annihilation ,Nov 11 '04
Pros: Silver & black, so it looks pretty sitting unplugged in the garage. Cons: Price, capacity, efficiency, noise, customer support
The worst dryer I've ever used (and I've used a few). The machine broke down three times within the first six months of ownership (failed fuses, burned-out motor) and both Western Appliance and ASKO refused to take it back. The thing has too many ridiculous controls that are not intuitive in any way.
Also, it takes approximately 2 HOURS to dry a load of laundry--and it's a SMALL load--the capacity is limited to about three towels. Because it's so inefficient, any "energy efficient" hoohah they tell you is also greatly exaggerated. It can take longer--forget blankets--take them to a laundromat instead. We found it took an average of 4 HOURS to dry a blanket!
Don't believe what ASKO says about this junk being quiet, either: The belts squeak so loudly you'd think a cat was caught up in the works. The repairman who came to fix it said it sounded like a trash compactor.
Buying this machine was the biggest appliance mistake of my life!

Asko washer dryer
by blackdogphoto ,Oct 13 '08
Pros: Clean clothes and less wear on fabrics Cons: Many repairs. Small capacity.
I purchased the asko front loader washer and dryer in September of 2001. They are still in use, though I have had many repair calls with both the washer and the dryer. These repair calls occured during the initial warranty period ( i think 3 years) and after. I have a love/hate relationship with these machines. I would reccomend these to a couple and not a large family. Small size would be great in a secondary laundry area in a larger home (like a master bedroom closet). Great machine for people with allergies.
The good-Clean clothes that do not smell like detergent or fabric softener. Small size would be great in a secondary laundry area in a larger home (like a master bedroom closet). Clothes last longer with these machines, due to high spin speed and less dryer time.
The bad-Have to break up one wash load into 2-3 sessions in dryer. Very time consuming!

terrible product
by dryertroubles ,Sep 04 '05
Pros: its compact Cons: makes loud noises, breaks down often, and parts take weeks to come in.
We purchased this product about a year and a half ago and have had many problems. It squeeks very loud. It is currently broken down for the second time. First time, power remained on but nothing came up in the LED Display. After getting a repairman out, turns out parts are not easy to get from Asko. So we waited. It was some type of mother-board of sorts that burned out. Well, less than a year later, the same problem has happened again.
Because it was built in to our cabinets in the laundry room, our only choice is to keep repairing it or buy the only other dry out there with the same dimensions (which is hard to find because the Asko dry is so compact).
I think we will buy the other Maytag dryer that will fit in our cabinets because I don't see this electrical problem with the Asko (as well as the long wait for parts) getting better anytime soon.

Do not buy this dryer
by sceg1 ,Feb 02 '08
Pros: Marketing is slick and pretty Cons: Too many to list
Pretty outside, flimsy inside with strange ducting that routes some lint right through the heating coil where it becomes a fire hazard. Very expensive to repair if you can find someone who knows how to repair it. I've just finally given up and I'm tossing it into the dumpster. Please don't make my mistake.

4 years of use and no problems
by bearleton ,Oct 27 '07
Pros: Good looks, solid performance, detects dry well Cons: I don't think it's as silent as the most silent dryers
I'm surprised to see people don't like this dryer here. We have 2 boys and the Mrs. does 2-3 loads of wash and dry every day of the week, and this thing runs like a champ. The dryer detects properly when the cloths are dry, there's a cool dry mode I like using in the summer.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!
by kilgore1 ,Nov 18 '04
Pros: Nice appearance, low water use, self heat, clean clothes Cons: Too many!! Small capacity, long cycles, numerous repairs Fuses blow & melt!!
I bought ASKO washer and dryer at a premium price and built the laundry room around them. BIG MISTAKE!! I've suffered 6 years with dealing with very small capacity, although I was led to believe it was little different than my old top loader, and extended washing and drying times, although I've had no problem with the end results...and numerous repair visits that began after the first year I had them. I have followed directions and taken care of them. The company won't take them back and the dealer is out of business. I have finally had it now the dryer board is gone and it will be $389.00 just for the part. I have purchased a new W/D this week and can't wait to begin laundry without headaches...!!!
