Pros: Small, cute, energy- and water-efficient. Fits a damn large washload. Cons: Unreliable, loud, allegedly flammable, mediocre wash, irritating dryer, EVIL DEMONIC LINT BALLS.
UPDATE at the 28-month mark: the repairman will soon be out to put the first new $600 computer in. Yesterday I turned on the dryer and the machine filled up with horrible acrid smoke. I have added that to the service call. It appears the repairman ...
Pros: Small, efficient, portable. Europeans are used to the limitations Cons: long drying cycle, wrinkles, Americans would need to adapt to limitations.
Despite having a nice sized condo; the area for where the washer and dryer go is a joke of a space. Not much room for even a stackable washer and dryer - which is why I settled on the Asko Combo washer/ dryer model. The Asko is really made for those ...
Pros: front load 1200 RPM spin extra rinse - 2 extra rinse cycles built-in dryer Cons: Dryer function is less than optimal (see other reviews) 2 minute door lockout No rinse-and-spin setting.
I got this one because I generally line dry my clothes, and so the dryer was unimportant. (I erroneously thought a "condensing dryer" was a heatpump. It turns out it's a 120 volt heater and apparently uses water as coolant. My house ...
Pros: Ventless, dryer works on 110 volts Cons: Only washes very small clothes. The dryer leaves them so wrinkled as to be useless.
This washer/dryer is only slightly better than having to load up the clothes and take them to the laundrette. It's somewhat useful if you have no room for at least separate stackable portable machines. Other than that, it's a sad example of modern ...
Pros: clothes so clean you will think they are new, oh wait! they are Cons: constant repair, parts take forever. Customer Service is Poor
This machine is horrible as far as reliability is concerned this is constantly needing repair. When it ws purchased in 2004 we had to envoke the LEMON LAW because it broke down so many times After that We just signed up for the local energy service plan ...
Pros: Washer/Dryer Combo 115volts 3 year parts and labour warranty Cons: Breaks. A lot.
Hi I am a British native and very familiar with washer-dryer combos since I was a child. All manufacturers in Europe have them available. They work great, efficient, wash clothes marvelously and just work! There is a british company names Servis. Which ...
Pros: Ventless,115 volt operation, many options for placement,Energy Star Cons: Smaller loads than a regular washer, longer dry time, Should have retractable wheels for moving it
I have a full size washer and dryer in the basement of my single level ranch style house but due to medical reasons, dealing with the stairs to the basement to do laundry has become quite a hassle. So, I decided that I would put a washer/dryer in the ...
Pros: When it works, it washes well. Cons: Frequent repairs and delays in ordering parts. Many trips to the laundromat.
I live in a condo and bought the ASKO WCAM1812 in June 2006 as a high quality replacement for the old Whirlpool apartment washer/dryer stacked unit. The ASKO has been a huge disappointment. I purchased the combination washer/dryer because there is no ...
Pros: Convenience! Plus the ecological, electrical and water savings of a front loader. Cons: Wiring burn-out concerns
Condo situation required my researching alternatives to regular washers and dryers as I had no way to vent a traditional dryer. I chose the Asko based on their reputation...the company as a whole, as I knew no one with a combo unit. I pestered the local ...
Pros: Nice idea if it worked. Long warranty. Cons: Very frustrating, can ruin clothes, frequent service and long repair delays
This machine is an enigma. Instructions are brief, yet unique principle of operation and finicky nature make operation very complex (or impossible.. we're still slightly optimistic.) We had high dryer temp problem and yellowing others mention. Replaced broken thermostat to cure. A month or two later no heat, replaced dryer component, fixed it. A month later same thing, same fix. Takes weeks for parts/repair scheduling. Right now stopping on "spin" with very light load (6 pr socks, one pair underwear, hand cycle). Door locked, won't go past spin. It always seems to have some odd problem that defies logical solution. Repair just says "rearrange the load, empty the lint filter" How do you rearrange the load when the door won't open? (Even left overnight.. and sometimes when it will open it drains water onto the floor.) Emptying lint filter also lets small amount of water on the floor, and seldom yields any lint (where does it go?)
Pros: Small amounts of detergent Cons: Wrinkled clothing, too low to floor
I bought the washer /dryer combo for my teenagers to use so I would not be constantly going upstairs to get their clothes. Now it looks like they slept in their clothes. The clothes come out so wrinkled that I am washing double time in my other set to get the wrinkles out. If you try to take them out before they are completely dry they are so hot you cannot handle them. Even when you do use the dryer functions on towels they take a long time to dry.
GREAT WARRANTY...YOU WILL NEED IT! by notasko ,Jun 18 '07
Pros: None Cons: Very frequent failures of various systems
I had an ASKO washer for three year. I got to see the repair person 9 times and had to wait SEVERAL weeks for parts (got to use the local coin machines all that time). Please note that there did not seem to be one element that broke, but everything about the machine seemed to fail at least once (of course the SS tub did not corrode through and I never got to use that warranty) Just bought a Maytag Epic when the Asko warranty ran out and the ASKO machine died a month later. Dealing with ASKO as a customer is a non-starter... they don't care and will send you a letter telling you the specifics of their warranty language when they are questioned about paying for several weeks of coin laundry expenses. Bottom line: unless you like gambling (will the washer work today? will the part be here this week? I wonder if the repair person works weekends?) then steer clear of Asko since it is not worth the headache.
Stay away....this product is junk by shopper1972 ,Jan 24 '07
Pros: None (unless your repairman is cute and your single) Cons: Expensive
Poor reliability
Leaks constantly
Revolting customer service
Poorly designed controls
Loud-like a jack hammer
This product is really not worth the money. I have had to call the repairman over 10 times and the dryer still does not work. The washer continually dumps water onto my floor. I have continually called the retailer and manufacturer and they seem to not be concerned. In fact the retailer pretended to not even sell them. The repairmen joked that this company certainly kept him busy with all the repairs required. I have found the representatives from the manufacturer to be unacceptable. They seem to have no concern and offer no solutions. They refused to replace the unit. It is now two years old and I must buy a new one as it is leaking again. This unit came with me townhouse and all of the others in my development have them and they also have horror stories and many have replaced these units after only two year.
Seriously I have had GE and Maytag in the past and this one is really junk in comparison. Do not buy this set!
Product is a Blessing for a Condominium Dweller by askowcambrs ,Aug 18 '09
Pros: Minimizes visits to the community laundry room. Increases condominium value. Cons: Partially dries clothes; air drying needed afterwards.
The Asko WCAM 1812 has been a blessing for me. I live in an apartment condominium that has a dishwasher slot, but no washer/drier hook-up. The Asko WCAM 1812 has enabled me to do most of my laundry inside my apartment, instead of going to the community laundry room. The keys to using this product successfully are:
1) Small loads, do a little laundry every day. 2) Use the dry cycle only for 20-40 minutes. This will dry the clothes enough, so that they can be hung up and air dried.
