  • If the Devil Designed Laundry Machines...

    Feb 28, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Small, cute, energy- and water-efficient. Fits a damn large washload.
Cons: Unreliable, loud, allegedly flammable, mediocre wash, irritating dryer, EVIL DEMONIC LINT BALLS.

Summary: UPDATE at the 28-month mark: the repairman will soon be out to put the first new $600 computer in. Yesterday I turned on the dryer and the machine filled up with horrible acrid smoke. I have added that to the service call. It appears the repairman ... read more

    Pros: Small, Simple to use
    Cons: Reliability, drying time

Summary: A ventless washer/dryer combo is a pretty ideal solution for condo living where you can't install a vent. Unfortunately there were a very limited number of options for the US market when we bought this Asko unit several years ago. Online research and a ... read more

  • ASKO WCAM1812 combo washer/dryer

    May 27, 2009 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: front load
    1200 RPM spin
extra rinse - 2 extra rinse cycles
    built-in dryer
Cons: Dryer function is less than optimal (see other reviews)
    2 minute door lockout
    No rinse-and-spin setting.

Summary: I got this one because I generally line dry my clothes, and so the dryer was unimportant.  (I erroneously thought a "condensing dryer" was a heatpump.  It turns out it's a 120 volt heater and apparently uses water as coolant.  My house ... read more

  • Not Made for the American Mentality.

    Mar 12, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Small, efficient, portable. Europeans are used to the limitations
Cons: long drying cycle, wrinkles, Americans would need to adapt to limitations.

Summary: Despite having a nice sized condo; the area for where the washer and dryer go is a joke of a space. Not much room for even a stackable washer and dryer - which is why I settled on the Asko Combo washer/ dryer model. The Asko is really made for those ... read more

  • Don't use this machine unless it's your only choice!

    Aug 26, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Ventless, dryer works on 110 volts
Cons: Only washes very small clothes. The dryer leaves them so wrinkled as to be useless.

Summary: This washer/dryer is only slightly better than having to load up the clothes and take them to the laundrette. It's somewhat useful if you have no room for at least separate stackable portable machines. Other than that, it's a sad example of modern ... read more
