The best motherboard I have yet to use

by devin_oates , Dec 22 '03
Pros: The deluxe model has just about everything a basic user could ever need..
Cons: To many expansion slots are used by it.
The motherboard is almost perfect. I purchased the deluxe edition, and it has just about anything you would ever need. It has SPDIF output, which for those unfamiliar with audio terms means that a single cable can be used to export the signal for you ...

A tolerable yet sub-par board

by imcrafty1979 , Mar 28 '04
Pros: cheap, big-named chipset, plenty of ports, cd comes with plenty extras
Cons: flaky component detection/driver installs, flaky components
Ever since Scott and I (mostly Scott) built this machine for my mom, I've regretted buying this motherboard. The nVidia nForce chipset is tolerable, although the sound likes to go out once in a while. I've reinstalled the OS for various reasons, and ...

Good Solid Board
by rabbidsquirrel ,Oct 17 '03
Pros: Solid Board, Price, Ports, and on board sound is superb.
Cons: Board will be obsolete soon...but then again which isn't.
Before I begin I am not a hardware guru. I can't tell you that this board runs x amount faster than any other board but what I can tell you is that the board is loaded with extra features and if your building a new computer on a budget this one fits the bill.

This board has 6 USB 2.0's and 2 Firewire ports. This is a must have with USB becoming the standard for all peripherals. The two Firewire ports come in handy when using those rare products that don't support both. This board also comes with an 8x AGP slot which is very important if you are buying this with (or are planning on upgrading too) a new top of the line Graphics card. The best part about the board is that even with all these feature it still supports the 3200 Barton at a reasonable price (130).

Basically this motherboard is a very good bargain buy...it is bundled with very informative software and even includes a serial port.

Stable board, Great Features, Great Sound
by Boscorocks ,Feb 20 '04
Pros: Stable, overclocker friendly, if you want something that you can count on get this board!
Cons: Layout is a bit awkward in places, especially the ATX power supply placement.
I got this board after a bad experience with an Abit board that I ended up returning. I wish I would have gotten this one in the first place! There are some things about the layout that I do not care for (which is why I originally chose Abit), but it's stability and features make up for it. It has SATA and RAID support which is necessary for the newer SATA drives and Firewire hookups too. I have yet to see anything in Firewire that I would want but then again I used to say that about USB. I overclocked my AMD 2800+ to 3200+ using this board and 2x512MB Corsair PC3200 RAM with absolutely no stability problems and with no noticeable temperature gain. I love the onboard sound on this thing too, no need for an add on soundcard unless you are really into the features of a high end card.
