Pros: Easy installation, supports 4GB DDR memory and Intel P4 support Cons: none
Back in October I was tasked with with upgrading several of our older workstations. Most of them were Intel Celeron or Pentium II machines and it was necessary to replace the motherboards. We wanted to use the existing cases and drives so we had to ...

BIOS Flash instructions in manual disastrous
by ervan ,Jan 26 '05
Pros: Lots of good features packed into a microATX form factor. Cons: Covered in review
I've only had this board for 24 hours, but found 3 issues:
1) I followed the instructions in the manual to update the BIOS. On booting with alt-f2 and the Asus driver CD, as provided in the box, in the CD drive, it flashed the BIOS, then froze. Nothing, nada, no POST, no BIOS boot, not even a signal from the video card. Their built-in feature to recover from a bad update obviously failed as well since it requires at least a partial start of the BIOS. Their own instructions and their own CD killed it. Apparently, it's fixable by the local tech but that's pending.
2) I liked the SPDIF output feature, but the motherboard doesn't come with the port, even though it's advertised. It's a separate card that my supplier is still seeing if he can get.
3) Minor: the SPDIF and game port outputs both require a PCI opening (not the slot itself, but just the hole in the back). With only 3 to start with, this is inconvenient.
Otherwise, it seems like a nice motherboard, but avoid the BIOS update bug!

Great Motherboard Beside one little thing...
by rainman_99 ,Jun 12 '04
Pros: Fast and reliable. 800fsb, supports HT, Dual DDR and Serial ATA. Cons: Not enough Pci slots to work with.
I bought this Motherboard a few months ago with a P4 2.8 Processor. This motherboard is an excellent product!
Well, beside one small thing. It comes with only 3 pci slots. Some may say that 3 pci slots is enough, but after you install a Video card in the AGP slot you come to realize that the first pci slot is simply too close to the Video card's fan. In other words, it makes it almost impossible to install anything in that slot because it leaves no room for the video card to 'breath'. That leaves you with only two pci slots to work with...
Probably the only con i found in this board. Beside that, great motherboard! Fast and reliable.
