Pros: mp3 playback, cheap, FM radio Cons: size, battery life, audio quality, skips a lot
This is one product you definitely should avoid. It may seem like a great product at first but there are major flaws with this CD player. The only good things about it are that it plays MP3s and it has an FM radio. Everything else about it will make ...
Pros: FM tuner, Headphone line remote Cons: Pretty much everything, even for the super cheap price.
Mt expectations weren't that high when I picked up the audiophase CDT420M personal cd player. After all, it was $39.99 at Best Buy. All I wanted was a cd based player that will play MP3 cd's that accepted an AC adapter. Since my collection is all ...
Pros: Plays CD-R,RW MP3. Good FM tuner. Plugged remote. Good sound plenty of volume. Nice finish. Cons: No ID3. Small LCD screen. One direction preset navigation. NiCad charging circuit. Crappy headphones. VERY-Short-battery-life.
Final update 12/28/03 see bottom Well, it sounds like the previous reviewer had a defective unit. I just returned a Memorex MP3 CD with AM/FM that broke after about a week of light use. So I was in the market for a under $50 MP3/CD player with a ...
Pros: Plays MP3 format disc Cons: LCD problem, button problem, remote control problem, very low battery life
Ive purchased this CD player for about $39.99 and Ive used it for 9 months. For the first time when I open the package, I was curious about the remote. I test it and the remote function is ok but after a few hours when I want to play the player ...
Pros: remote control with volume control, tough design, mp3 cd support, built in charger, radio, antishock Cons: has problems reading most cds, buttons mix up, remote is more of a useless addon
45 seconds anti shock, digital FM radio tuner, radio presets, built in charger for metal hydrid/nickle cadmium, and who can forget the mp3 support, this cdplayer works quite well but rejects low quality cdrs quite easily, it also has easily chemically ...
Owned this unit for 30 min - had enough by ayer ,Feb 04 '04
Pros: multi-function, radio is pretty good, includes remote (?) Cons: Operation unintuitive, unacceptably bad CD playback audio (hiss), remote didn't work.
I had to refer to the instruction manual just to turn it on - a little unusual - this is just a CD player after all!
OK, radio sounded good. Moved on to try an MP3 encoded disk. While it spins, a very audible and irritating hiss leaks into the music. The louder you make it - the louder the hiss. Unacceptable - I get a better sound quality from a cassette tape player.
One more thing: when turned really loud, apparently the power drain on the batteries is so high, that it...stops playback completely!
I also tried to use the remote out of curiosity, but couldn't make it work. And I am an engineer, for crying out loud!
After about half an hour I packed it back into its wrapper and I am taking it back to BestBuy.
Pros: behind the neck headphones. thats it. headphones bear bad sound quality Cons: HORRIBLE anti-shock. VERY fragile. VERY VERY LOW BATTERY LIFE. Not worth the $40.
I was shopping around online looking for CD PLayers. I saw this Audiophase for $40 and thought it would be a good deal, and its features seemed promising. Boy, was I wrong. The "45 second antishock" is more like 4 second antishock. Even the slightest bump or tilt will cause it to shut off and stop playing, which is very annoying.
Also, the battery life is unreasonably low. I put in some Duracells and after less than 4 hours of play, the batteries were already drained.
It also takes unbearably long to seek tracks. After I pressed the next track button, I thought it had malfunctioned, since it took so long. Very awful CD Player. I shall never trust Audiophase again.
Also, after a single drop onto my kitchen floor, several parts off the edge chipped off. Very fragile, very poorly made.
I replaced this Audiophase with a Sony Walkman. The walkman is better in every way, for only $10 more.
Pros: Plays MP3s, FM tuner, remote control unit is handy Cons: Battery life-bad!!!, No AC adapter available, cheap headphones, slow to read discs.
Slow button response
I bought the Audiophase CDT 420M with the intention of using it to play mp3s. I only used it sparingly at first, and put it away for a month or so. Battery life is non-existent even in the non-anti-shock mode. I replace batteries once a day or two. My problem is I can't find an AC adapter to use with it. All the ones Best Buy sells, don't physically fit the CD player. So rechargables don't help me out any. I would continue to use this unit if I could plug it in, but if there is no AC adapter available then I will have to shelve it. If they are going to put a package together then it should include AC adaptor, remote control and the unit. They can trash the head phones, because you can buy them for $4.99 anywhere. I'm disappointed, because it is too late to take it back.
Audiophase CDT420M Personal CD Player by juggler4christ ,Jun 04 '04
Pros: Good sound when working Cons: Eats batteries, anti-shock deffective, skips nonstop nomatter what, and burns holes in CDs.
This CD player sucks! It keeps on skipping non-stop even if it's not being touched and even if anti-shock is on. If you're looking at this, don't buy that CD played. It's a rip-off! The dang thing kept on burning holes in my CDs from skipping so much!
Pros: Can play MP3 CDs. Cons: Comes with poor quality headphones.
AC charger not included.
Background noise in left channel.
I got this for $40 at best buy and I'm returning it today. Buttons do not respond half the time and there is annoying background noise in the left channel from the cd spinning. I'll never buy Audiophase again.
Pros: Plays MP3s, CD-Rs, FM Tuner Cons: Cheap headphones, cheap remote, skip here or there.
I bought this CD player for under $40 at best buy, and it has been a good value so far. First of all, it plays MP3s and has an FM tuner all built in. Most other CD players in this category are over $60.
I can honestly say that the unit works well, sounds good with a different set of good headphones (instead of the cheap ones they give you). However, the remote did not work for me, but it was cheap anyway and that's not why I bought it.
It plays MP3s very well, maybe a slight skip here or there, but I'm not so sure it's the unit doing this. The buttons respond well as long as the batteries are charged.
It's a good deal for this type of unit, but it's not the best available.
