Good value for the buck
by stbob ,Dec 09 '03
Pros: directory mode
skip protection
mp3 capabilities
shuffle mode
good battery life Cons: still skips occasionally
no song title display or filename/directory display, only track numbers
I picked this unit up at Target for $30. For that price, it's the best value. The only negatives I found are: (1) you have to press play and wait appr 10 seconds for the unit to recognize the CD before switching it to "shuffle" mode; and (2) the display does not show song titles or ID tag information, only the "track number". Can't complain, for the price.
Battery life is good. Unit has a "directory" mode that lets you skip through directories if your home-burned MP3 CDs were created with songs within directories. That's a plus. It would have been nice if the unit displayed directory names, filenames or ID tags, but again, for the cost, this is the best value MP3 CD player.

Very Disappointed
by sjstover ,Feb 08 '04
Pros: Fair battery life, AC adapter, skip protection worked good Cons: LCD not that good, Complicated button operation, died in about 3 months (was not abused)
I bought one for my daughter's birthday and it died after about three months, just after the warranty ran out. The repair cost from Audiovox was the same as the price of the player! Don't waste your money...

No Shock Protection
by int893445675 ,Jun 03 '04
Pros: Sound is OK Cons: Skip Protection is worthless, Does not like to be moved a fraction of an inch
The Product says that there is protection but that would be assuming that it worked. Half the time when I even pick the thing up to carry it it will either skip half a song, or play 3 seconds...stop and then start over or just basically skip. It does this even when I am not moving it or laying it flat as well.
