Everyone has disputed on which class of detector an average driver can get away with. Kmart, Wal-Mart and Target offer models that are on the lower spectrum. As Circuit City, Best Buy, and Sears offers from lower, middle and higher end detectors....

Pros: Good band detection! Good volume. Digital voice tells you what band is being detected
Cons: Display is dark. No tech-mode, or voltmeter. Can't shut bands off.

Cons: way to many false alarms the led is kind of hard to see

This is a great radar detector,why I have had radar detectors for about 10 years now.This is the best at long range detection.I have a cobra in my other car it works well but the range is not as long as the bel 936.
Now the bel 936 falses a lot but...

I bought one of these at Circuit City. It seems to pick up radar OK, not really noticeably better or worse than any of the various others I've owned in 20 years of driving.
But my real gripe is the manufacturer's claim that these units will pick up laser. They don't - I have a $267 ticket to prove it. I looked at the motorcycle patrolman who was sighting me down with his laser (as I was hitting the brakes), looked at my Beltronics detector, looked back at the patrolman, back at the detector... you get the idea. Not a beep, not a chirp, not a whistle. Lesson: You get what you pay for. My next detector will be a Valentine One.

This radar detector is a lifesaver. It's accuracy is superb, and the volume overrides the sound in the vehicle. Great buy!!!!
