Pros: high speed fan = high volume/flow; Attractive-unobtrusive; Easy to clean; replace HEPA cartridges Cons: Noisy ; No prefilter (sponge); Not "True" HEPA filter.
Cannot kill viruses or mold.
I purchased this unit last year and so I have about 11 months of experience with it. Reasons for purchasing this unit ==============================
===
I have a pet cat, so I am concerned about dander, hair, etc. I have chronic cough and infrequent ...
Pros: Size, design, price, efficiency, durability Cons: Uses filters, the Oscillation incident, nothing major
Attracted to the sleek design and unobtrusive looks, I purchased this unit thinking that it would be perfect for my apartment. I initially liked the price, about $35 at a Local store, and liked that I could tuck it into a corner and out of the way. I ...
Pros: Remote Control for Fan Speed, takes up very little space. Cons: Poor Quality Control, questionable seal on the HEPA filters
My wife and I purchased a Bionaire BAP825-U Tower Air Purifier as our first look into air purifiers. Since I already had a Bionaire Tower Fan (that works great, and has worked great for over a year and a half), I figured that this would probably be a ...
Pros: Price is reasonable, ease of use, the unit is very reliable and easy to maintain. Cons: A bit loud on medium and high setting. The remote control works poorly.
I bought my air cleaner in July 2007 and the unit has been in continuous use 24 hours a day ever since with out problems other than the remote control which worked poorly at best. I placed the unit in a bedroom which is about 15' by 12' and run it ...
Pros: Excellent filtering, variable fan speed, automatic shutoff and on based on air quality detection. Cons: Filter cost, though this may be mitigated by washable HEPA filters.
"I would NOT suggest getting this unit if you are concerned about: 1) Mold (it cannot remove mold spores) 2) Viruses (it cannot) 3) Pollen - it seems only reasonably effective at most. 4) You are an asthmatic or suffer from any type of COPD. (Chronic Lung Disease). 5) Noise. This unit makes a lot of noise. I can't sleep with it on, even on a fan setting of I, the lowest. "
I've had this unit for about 11 months. It actually does include a "true HEPA" filter, so I'm not sure about the prior writer's thoughts above on 1-4 (go to http://www.bionaire.com/faqs_air.aspx to read more). Regarding #5, I guess the writer is a very, very light sleeper. On lowest setting, the filtering system is quiet... like a whisper of white noise. Because I like to clean my entire apartment, however, so I crank it up on full and put it in the main room. I'd think the prior reviewer can do the same, given all the rooms are connected.
