Pros: Inexpensive, nice faceplate design, nice wireless remote Cons: Audio quality substandard, and customer support is nonexistant.
When I first saw this receiver on sale at Fry's, the salesperson tried to dissuade me from buying it. He said that many purchasers complained that the receiver section had problems. It was a present for my wife, and I figured that she would listen ...
Pros: options, mp3 folder depth (8 levels),sound quality, CD/MP3 text. Cons: no dimmer, little hard to see display in sunlight, not enough options for sub display
After searching for a suitable receiver for my Saturn I decided on the Blaupunkt MP33. After placing the order I read some of the reviews I could find. I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about receiving the Blaupunkt MP33 after the user-reviews ...
Faceplate fell off and doesn't play all CD's by johnb1 ,Mar 14 '04
Pros: good sound, nice credit size remote, personal programed Cons: Faceplate fell off the first day, Doesn't play all burned audio or Mp3 CDs
Unit sounds great, but after using it just one day the hinge on the faceplate fell off while removing it!!! As other reviews have indicated, this deck has problems reading burned audio CD as well as MP3 Cd, its hit or miss whether you will hear the music on a CD. I got a good price at FRY's $139 after rebate but who cares if the unit doesn't perform all the time and falls apart!
Pros: MP3 when it works. Power & looks. Cons: sometimes it works sometimes it didn't.
I read the reviews of this unit after I bought it & I'm shocked!!!! tHESE GUYS ARE RIGHT. I love this Unit, but it does not work right. I wasted so many CD trying to fined the right burn speed for this player. I never did. It played CD fine at times. I really did not want to believe that it was the player's fault, but it was. I bought a Panasonic CQ-C1300U to replace it. Later I will write a review on the Panasonic CQ-C1300U.
Pros: Good sound quality Cons: Problem reading from CD
I recently bought this stereo because it was on sale for a good price. The sound quality is good, but it has problems reading from the any CDs (CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 format, or whatever...). The unit would return an error message of "Comm Error". What a piece of JUNK! They should call this a "Blaujunkt". I'm returning it today to get my money back
piece of junk - gimmicky and unreliable by nialmcg ,Jan 02 '04
Pros: sound quality, manuals, ease of installation. Cons: reliablility, playback problems, unusable half the time
this was bought brand new, and while it sounds good, and has loads of options, its done nothing but freak out on mp3 burned CD's and burned audio CD's playback is extremely unreliable even with store bought audio CD's. several times the unit went into some weird diagnostic mode while trying to get it to play audio CD's and the irritating "checking CD" screen kept coming up no matter what CD i put in it. the only resolve has been to shut the car off completely, and even that doesnt work 2 out of 3 times. this is the second blaupunkt i have purchased, after the first (a BVP655) was also a pile of crap (wouldnt play CD's at all, just kept ejecting them). shame on you blaupunkt for putting such garbage out there. this is my last blaupunkt for me. after having grown up with quality blaupunkt radios in my parents european cars and expecting a higher level of quality from this company, its a sad day for me indeed.
What you need to make it work by albiewk ,Jul 19 '04
Pros: Excellent sound. Simple clean looks (not like a jukebox). Cons: Bad power supply design. Insufficient noise decoupling.
This is a really nice unit. However, it can be very finicky about playing CDs of any kind, including MP3s. Sometimes the unit will simply not play CDs. Then later, it will sometimes unexpectedly start working. I guessed that the problem is caused by high frequency noise in the power going to the unit. So, I hooked up a two paralleled capacitors on each power line, both the "memory" line (yellow) and the main power line (red). Each capacitor pair included a .022 uF polystyrene and a .1 uF tantalum capacitor. Both capacitor pairs' negative leads were attached to the ground wire (black). These capacitor pairs will shunt power spikes to ground. Since I have installed the capacitors the unit works flawlessly.
