A Little Background There are some reading the title that must be thinking, “Nooooo! Surely he isn’t going to bash Bose!” and they would be wrong, to some degree. I am not here to bash, but I am certainly not going to bandwagon and sing the praises ...
Pros: Clean powerful natural spacious sound no matter where you position yourself in your listening room. Cons: Absolutely and positively none at all!
Bose 301 Series V: Original Review Date...5 Jul., 2003 Matthew Polk has stated on more than one occasion that speaker designers need to stop constantly replacing speaker models and their #'s with new ones so all can benefit from the ...
Pros: Full sound, clear and accurate sounding mids and highs Cons: Pricey, highly focused tweeter
As some of my fellow readers know, I've been using a stereo desktop speaker set (though a good one - K

Pros: Pleasant if unrealistic sound. Make for acceptable background listening speakers. Bass can shake the room. Cons: Overpriced, distorted tonality, loose wumpy bass, no imaging/soundstage, fit and finish is only OK
This is a review of the 301 III. I recently heard the 301 V and my opinions have not changed. Summary: A pleasant sounding speaker for back ground listening but over priced and out classed by the competition. Tonality is distorted to produce pleasant ...
Pros: BOOM BOOM BOOM. Cons: Mids and highs are lost in bass land.its a matter of taste.
I dont know what you will hear but I heard only boom boom boom :). The highs and mids were lost somewhere at the bose factory. Go for the 201, they are the true stars.
If you want smaller speakers go for the 161 which are amazing.
I have read many reviews of various Bose 301 series speakers. One thing is evident; you either love them or hate them.
I lie back in my bed, put in a CD and close my eyes. If I feel as I am watching the band playing, I like it. This happens with these speakers. I just set my system up, Denon Receiver and CD Changer along with the Bose 301 V's. I started listening to a CD I made on my computer (MP3) and found myself grinning from ear to ear.
I am not such a snob to claim flat sound or peaks at certain frequency levels. I know such things as speaker placement, carpets, walls, room size, electronics etc. all influence these things. I am in a bedroom not a lab.
I like these speakers! I have them on Bose stands, 12" from the wall and 10' apart. I sit or lay down 10' from the center. Very Nice. I am driving them w/50W RMS per channel from Denon DRA-295 Receiver and Denon DCM-380 CD Changer. I strongly recommend this combo.
Bose 301 Vs Very Good (not as good as the old 301s) by sixtoes ,Aug 25 '07
Pros: Rich, full sound
Amazing imaging
Retail price is fair for quality of sound reproduction Cons: Mostly mid to high range sound, you'll want a sub
I am not an audiophile. I don't have the time or the money (so it seems). However, I have heard great sound systems before and I have heard crap (all too often). More importantly, I know what I like.
I have to Bose 301 Vs (2 of them) and 2 of the original 301s from the early 90s. I bought them used on Craigslist all 4 for $150.00.
The older speakers look old but sound better than the new ones.
Anyway, I have had sony speakers, KLH, and JBL. These Bose speakers just sound much cleaner than anything I've had before. They don't have the deep bass of some other speakers I have owned but I plan to get a sub-woofer and use these 4 as the surround speakers. They really excel at imaging and voice reproduction is awesome.
I would recommend these speakers to anybody looking for great sound for a fair price. An audiophile may snub these but in terms of bang for the buck these are excellent
