Pros: Fits in varied vehicles, secures in car, lightweight, adjustable back and seat bottom Cons: Small head space due to side impact protection bothers some children
Our daughter can best be described as tall and thin. Because of this, finding a car seat to fit her was difficult. She was too tall for many of the five point harnesses, and too light for many of the booster seats. We were getting pretty frustrated ...
Pros: Side Impact Protection, narrow, easy adjustments Cons: Learning curve for installation; kids may not be able to secure themselves. Price.
Introduction The Bodyguard is the latest booster seat from Britax, and is the first Britax model with the unique, "Enhanced Side Impact Protection." This model is a belt-positioning booster, rated for children 40-100 pounds and 43-60 inches ...
Pros: Side impact guards, seat belt lock for both sides of lap belt portion Cons: Head "wings" are VERY restrictive, lapbelt locks make belt too tight across top of thighs
Our 22 month old son has been in a Britax Advantage since day one and we LOVE it! Unfortunately, he is a very big boy (38 lbs and 37 in tall) and is quickly outgrowing the 40 lb limit on the 5 pt harness on the Advantage. I love Britax seats and knew ...
Pros: Comfortable, side protection, easy to use, very stable on MB-Tex (leatherette) seats. Cons: None major.
A year ago, we were in Europe and needed to buy a booster seat for our son. We bought a Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP, which has received the highest rating in the German test of similar seats (Bestnote "GUT" beim ADAC/Stiftung-Warentest 6/2004 in der Gruppe 2-3 ...
Pros: It has "BUILT-IN-LAP BELT-LOCK-OFFS" Multiple seat widths,Heights & slight recline! Cons: NOT too padded and a bit heavy
I purchased my son the BRITAX BODYGUARD specifically for the "BUILT-IN-LOCK OFFS" features and this companys safety ratings.... This seat is consturcted of HEAVY plastics... It is a FORWARD FACING ONLY, BELT POSITIONING BOOSTER.... It is meant to ...
Terrific! My boy loves it! by kcostich ,Sep 22 '04
Pros: Adjustable height & width. Reclines, light weight, side impact rated, easy to install. Cons: Limited choice of fabrics/colors. Those available, except for blue are a little outrageous!
It's great. A little more work because of the side arm "lock down", but it keeps it from sliding around. My son says is is more comfortable than his Roundabout and the side impact rating makes it virtually one of a kind. It's been in use for over one year now and it (and the fabric) has held up remarkably well. His brother can't wait for his. Easily adjustable for heigth and width and reclines easily for long trips.
Disappointed with this product by dgat7 ,Dec 15 '03
Pros: Haven't found anything I like about this seat yet. Cons: Poor design, comfort not taken into consideration
After all the positive reviews that I heard about Britax products, I was very disappointed when I finally received this seat.
My first complaint came after installing the seat in my car. It moved around quite a bit and just did not seem very secure. We decided to drive to the local fire station to make sure that we had in fact installed the seat correctly and we did. It just happens that it doesn't fit snugly into our car.
My second complaint comes from my 5 year old daughter. During the 10 minute drive back to my home, she complained the entire time that her neck and legs hurt her and she couldn't get comfortable. I think that the design of the seat with the "wings" that come out around the head area of the child is a poor design.
I am very disappointed with this product and I'm having a hard time understanding what all the hype is for Britax products. I'm not sure that I will spend this kind of money again just to be unsatisfied.
Britax Bodyguard Booster Seat by lyncur ,Dec 18 '03
Pros: May work fine in a car with cloth seats. Cons: Doesn't seem to be working for me in my car with leather seats.
We have had the Britax Bodyguard for 5 weeks now. I have a 1999 Toyota Camry with leather seats. I carefully installed it on repeated attempts in the rear center seat according to the manufacturer's instructions. My car has a lap/shoulder belt combination in all 3 rear seat locations. It appears to be safe and fit him correctly, (i.e., belts are snug and in the correct location on his body) until I turn a corner. My 3-year old, 42 lb. son in his booster seat, then slides to the left or right depending on whether I'm taking a right or a left turn. I've tried tightening the belts as tight as possible until his legs are practically hurting and it still slides. Prior to the Bodyguard, we've used a Britax Roundabout in my car with leather seats and have not had any problems with it. In fact, would recommend the Roundabout.
Not Compatible w/Leather Seats by jeanif966 ,Dec 11 '04
Pros: Its a Britax...Known for safety Cons: Does not work with leather seats
While I love the Britax brand this seat is just not good if your car has leather seats, no matter how tight you get the seat belt. I had it in my Volvo for one day and every time I made a turn the seat tipped to the side while my son was in it...not very safe!
amazing for little escape artists by tapple1008 ,Jan 06 '04
Pros: safety Cons: doesn't stay as secure in the middle seat
This is the second booster that I have owned and it is the BEST I have seen. My daughter loves it and she is tightly strapped in and can not move her hips anywhere because of the lock-offs. In a previous seat, she could wiggle her hips forward and slowly release the lap portion of the seatbelt and end up with a dangerously loose seatbelt. With this seat that has the lock-offs under the arm rests(which took about 2 days of use to get used to) she can not go anywhere. The seat does not wiggle at all, and she can't unlock it herself to get out yet either. So, no more popping out at a stop light because she thought we were at our destination. Another added bonus is how padded the seat is and the wings on the head rest. My daughter will again take snoozes in the car because this seat is soooooo comfortable. And, she doesn't look uncomfortable as she sleeps either. Overall, I think that this seat is ideal and I have recommended it to many friends.
Pros: 100 lb. weight limit. Side impact protection. Comfy.
Locking base with lap belt snugness. Cons: Seat belt lock in at top more difficult, wrinkles making it hard to adjust.
I originally looked at what I wanted in a car booster. My Grandson had gotten almost too big for his five point harness Fisher Price seat. This car booster offered side impact safety and a system of connecting the seat base to the car further reducing shifting in case of an accident. So the seat would take most of the impact. The weight limit is high, 100 pounds.
It is a bit harder to use, but my 5 year old mastered it in a week. He said it is comfortable and was able to ride 10 hours in comfort on a recent trip.
The lap belt can remain locked in on one side to prevent the seat from moving when empty as well. A nice feature.
I love the seat and would purchase it again. We need to keep our fragile children safe and this has all the features. The side impact protection does not interfere with his vision. The top part of the seat belt goes through a locking device and will wrinkle making it hard to adjust. This was improved slightly by adjusting the cars seat back.
