I got this particular Printer for $199.99 at Wal-Mart from the North Dale Mayberry store and it has worked fine until recently not only does it jam the PAPER WHEN IT IS LOW? It also makes my eyes itch a lot. Since I went to a Higher yielding Toner, it has not bothered my eyes yet! It prints well and is better than an inkjet Printer since the Inkjet Printer Cartridges are about 59% cheaper, they run out faster from the amount of printing that I do since I am an unmentioned struggling writer of Erotica Novels and all> I wanted to replace the lower single paper tray. I'm starting to fall in love with Brother products, they really deliver solid all around performance at a great value. This printer was purchased in my office to replace a HP, and the print quality/speed has been outstanding. Sure it is not photoquality by any means, but for a small office it handles document printing like a breeze. Paper feeding mechanism almost never jams. It's not perfect, but it is simply an amazing value. My first toner lasted 2 months after the toner warning light came on, I have no idea why but perfect prints just kept coming and coming.

Cons: The most unreliable, lowest quality printer I have ever owned.

If you have oodles of time to spend on the phone with nonresponsive Brother Service Technicians, don't mind waiting for a week for replacements on warrantied parts and love driving to Kinkos to print out documents that you can't print at home, then this printer is for you!

Otherwise, stay far away and spend your money on a more reliable brand such as HP.

During the seven weeks I owned this printer, it actually worked for two. There were problems with the drum unit (which Brother replaced with a second damaged drum unit).

The printer would spit out solid black pages that spewed black toner everywhere. Trying to reach the Brother Service Center was a joke, with wait times up to 30 minutes. (They ALWAYS seem to be experiencing high volume.) They don't overnight replacement parts, even those still under warranty.

This printer became a very large, heavy paper weight. I suggest avoiding Brother and the headaches that come with it.

I will NEVER purchase another Brother product again!

Cons: It does not have the quality of comparable Samsung printers

I bought one of these and a comparable Samsung model at the same time. The Brother does not measure up. I have frequent paper jams with the Brother but not the Samsung. The Brother sounds makes noises like it is dying whenever I print a lot of pages at once. I have had unhappy experiences with every Brother printer I have bought and do not intend to buy any more.
