Pros: Inexpensive, Fast, Good Greyscale, Reasonable Toner Cost, manual duplex, All-around good printer Cons: Must buy cables separately, major EMF issues, weak manual feeder tray, scant paper documentation.
The Brother HL-1435 is a monochrome laser printer targeted at the home and small office markets. I will not waste your time listing the specifications of this printer when they can be found at the official site: ...
Pros: Inexpensive, good print quality Cons: Needs to be cleaned often.
I have had my Brother HL-1435 printer for about 3 years. I use at my small business, primarily as a single-user printer with less than 10 pages printed per day. So, I could be classified as more than a home user, but probably not as much as a ...
Pros: Too much to say here look in the review Cons: None so far
I saw that Staples had this printer on with a $50 off rebate, and reviews show that this printer is way better then the Samsung ML1710 Laser Printer so I went for it. I wanted to have a printer that the three computers that I have could use and my ...
Pros: Excellent print quality. Cons: Rather large.
We purchased this printer about a year and half ago. We have had no problems with it whatsoever. It has excellent print quality and rarely ever gets a paper jam. If it does it is very easy to clear.
Although the paper tray can accept 8.5 x 14 sheets of paper I normally just use the manual feed for these sheets (as I'm normally only printing a couple of pages).
The printer is very easy to set up and came with all of the necessary cords in the box.
The power save feature is good and it is rarely turned off because of that. The toner lasts well and we've only replaced it once. It came with the smaller cartridge and we replaced it with the larger one, so I expect it to last a long time.
Pros: Cheap, works very well when it works.... Cons: VERY bad quality.
I purchased this printer about 6 months ago. Initially the quality was great but last week, I noticed thick black streaks on all my pages. Now the streaks are so thick, that the printer is unusable. The drum is likely to blame, and many other users have reported similar problems.
Maybe I received a lemon, but don't take the chance. My friend has the previous model, and he is beginning to notice a deterioration in quality.
Although cheap, this printer will be unlikely to last.
HL-1435 Brother "Fantastic Printer" by dmack ,Dec 16 '03
Pros: Much better then the Lexmark R+ I purchased for 1400.00. Cons: None that I know of!!!!
I was leary of purchasing a laser printer at such a low cost. $139.00 at Computers 4 Sure. But I took the chance and am pleasantly supprised. Just a fantastic printer, great speed and crisp text with better then average graphics. Plugged it in and away it went. I would just recommend that you do not open the rear door for manual feed. It feeds just fine manually (envelopes, card stock and checks) from the front and passes through the normal paper patch coming out on top. Have heard from friends that have the same printer that using the back exit door caused enough problems that the printer had to be returned.
Pros: Inexpensive
Reliable
Supports Linux Cons: Curls pages
This was an inexpensive printer, but supposed to be of decent quality. Since we bought this printer, my wife and I have printed countless resumes, directions, our wedding invitations, and well... I can't think of it all, but we're probably near to finishing the half-toner cartridge which came with it. So far the printer is perfectly reliable. Additionally, Brother even supplies Linux drivers, so my wife doesn't have to move her windows laptop to print anything, she just prints via the network with our Linux media box acting as print server.
The only down side to it, is that the pages come out quite curled. How curled? If you try to print some pages double sided by printing the odds, and then putting the paper in upside down to print the evens, you'll fail. The printer won't be able to grab the curled paper. However, if you try to curl it in the opposite direction over a table edge, it uncurls enough as to be useful. This was much more of a problem for our wedding invites as they were on heavy stock and needed to be pressed for days before they were ok.
