I've used this camcorder for a few years now ,,, I have a sony trv900 for work , it's ok if you carry a tripod everywhere ... the JVC dosn't have that problem .. well designed . controls are easy to work while your taping .. I did purchase the 3 hour battery ,,, and a couple of 16 meg memory cards for all the stills ... overall I'm very happy with the camcorder ..

You do not get what you pay for. I had a Sony Digital-8 before which outperformed the 9800 in almost all areas, except size.

Better than the Sony I had before. Perfect for video editing. Cute that you can shoot a still picture at the same time you record. Built-in flash is handy. And the best: a big display, good for recording and even better for editing video. I use it for serous editing.
