Pros: Great Integration for Direct Camera Printing: Excellent Photos: Okay Scans: Low Cost per Cartridge Cons: Small Buttons - One Photo Cartridge
The Intro Canon has been a leading manufacturer of electronic devices for more than a decade now: They began in 1937 and have cemented their dependable and valuable place in computer and photographic peripherals. The Canon MP390 is no ...
Pros: Lots of features, inexpensive ink, solid construction Cons: Windows only, noisy
I didn't see myself as an owner of a multifunction printer, or even a colour printer for that matter. When my wife bought Canon MP390, I was rather skeptical: do we need another boxy thingie sitting on our desk? Well, I have to stand corrected. This ...
Pros: Looks good, most features are pretty easy to use, quite dependable Cons: Guzzles ink, pricey
Product: Canon MultiPASS MP390 All-In-One InkJet Printer This multi-function printer comes with a printer, fax, scanner, and copier. Uses BCI-24 cartridges which are sometimes hard to find, but not expensive. You can always get store brand ...
Pros: Fax, Multicard reader, Pict Bridge, USB 2.0, Above average print quality. Good Software included. Cons: SMALL INK TANKS, noisy, ppm could be better. cord not included, SMALL INK TANKS!
The MP390 has a lot going for it. Scanner, Copier, Fax and of course a Printer. That's what's on the surface. The extras are what make this a real steal. USB 2.0, PictBridge, and a Multicard reader really make this printer stand out. And the software ...
Pros: Reliable, Fast and quiet printing! Cons: Ink cartridge size, unit a bit bulky by today's standards.
I have had the Canon Multi-Pass machine now for 6 months, long enough to say for sure that I made the right choice in the huge market that is multi-function machines. If you are looking for a light-medium duty office machine, the Canon will fit the bill ...
I just acquired this printer from our local Micro Center. I paid 159 plus tax. I passed on the more expensive MP700 after comparing color print speeds. This one was far speedier I've only had the printer a couple of weeks, so I haven't had the chance ...
Pros: Scanning resolution, color printing and copying, fax, and price Cons: Scanning seems slow
Just bought this after the holidays, and it's awesome. It prints much faster than my older one, though color is slower than I expected, but it can bleed to the end of the paper, and it scans at 1200dpi, great for such an inexpensive printer. Scanning in old pictures has been something of an ordeal, and it takes a while per picture, but that may just be a fact of life with scanners.
I also like the fax function, with 200 page memory. The color copying is pretty darn nice too.
Pros: Ease of use; prints quickly; three machines in one Cons: None
I got this by mistake. I had ordered just a printer using my American Express points and they sent this instead but I am so happy. I love it! The fax really came in handy.
An excellent all round Multifunction Printer by matt47x ,Mar 25 '05
Pros: Excellent quality photos, great scanner, fax and easy to use copier, looks stunning, easy setup Cons: no ADF but who cares
This is an excellent overall multifunction printer. Setup is a breeze with included easy to follow steps instruction sheet to get you going fast. This unit is very solid and sturdy and its cosmetics and design are one of the best i've seen. The printer is really excellent quality and the scanner is also very good in my opinion. The copier function is great and easy to use. Canon has cheapest cartridges around but are even cheaper with compatibles for around $2 available on ebay. The only thing this printer may be missing is the automatic document feeder for faxing large documents etc, this is a feature i would never use anyway. This printer has a lot of features, options and setting that you can customize to meet your needs. Highly recommended!!!!!!
Pros: All in one unit. A great idea in theory! Cons: Small Cartridges, Extremely poor customer service, No recourse for a faulty product.
I purchased this all in one machine for my small business. I suppose I expected it to be good because of there copier and camera reputation. I did not use it for the first few months due to a family illness. Once I did finally use it I got one cartridge worth of work out of it. As soon as I changed the cartridge is when it all went BAD. Nothing would print without lines running through the whole page. I called the vendor I purchased it through and was told I could not return it because I only had 30 days to return it. They advised I call Cannon directly. After many calls and not resolution i fought with the merchant and got them to attempt to fix it. It was shipped back to my home. I put paper in and tried again. Eureka... Nothing! I got my old faithful HP out and put the MP390 Back in the box. It is now in my basement collecting dust.
Good Quality Printing When it Actually Wants to Print by marygirl ,Jan 24 '05
Pros: Good quality printing
Fax and photocopier work really well
Printing directly from the card reader Cons: - wont print entire document/image
- scanner only works about half the time
I have wasted so much photo paper and other expensive papers trying to get this printer to print out my ENTIRE document/image. It prints about half the document/image. It rarely prints out the whole thing.
Sure Canon ink is cheap, but that's because the cartridges are TINY and don't last long if you use the printer regularly.
I use Windows XP on my Sony Vaio computer. Tech Support couldn't even solve my problems. We tried everything imaginable to get this printer to work.
If I could do it all over again, I would not buy this printer. My friends have great luck with Canon printers. I guess I'm the unlucky one. The Lexmark that I used to have was wonderful. In the (near) future I will buy another Lexmark.
A Little Thirsty, but Does Great Work! by area242 ,Jun 10 '04
Pros: Good and Fast, Easy installation on home network, and it does it all...really well! Cons: Goes through the Ink Really Fast!
I bought this unit a couple of months ago and it has been through 2 Black Ink cartridges already. But, The Ink is pretty cheap (Approx $8.00 at WalMart) and ready available. However, that's the only negative thing I can say about this little work horse. I've been sending a ton of faxes with it and haven't had any problems. It worked so well with faxes, that I added a custom ring/number to my phone line (dirt cheap per month) and I'm ready to go any time! I researched this product pretty heavily Online before buying this unit, and it got rave reviews from the sites I trust. I bought it because I'm in Real Estate and need to print, send/receive faxes, and make copies all the time. So far, I've been able to do all of those things without ever reading the manual...which says a lot about it's intuitive design. Not to mention, I've never had even a slight problem with this unit. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend it!
Great little workhorse by bruce_steele ,Jan 08 '05
Pros: Color printing and print speed Cons: None
I bought this printer after doing a fair amount of research to replace the LexMark X63 (which was like a recalcitrant child!). I needed a multifunction because of space limitations and this one fit the bill. After distilling all the info on line, I chose this one. Saw a review in the December issue of PC magazine after I purchased the printer and saw the MP390 was their pick of the year. Felt even better after that.
Have only had it about two weeks, but it's done everything I wanted it to. Had occasion to print out some woodworking plans (including picture) and the color was great! Haven't tested the fax yet, but I'm sure it should be OK. Tried the scanner and seems to be OK. Don't have a large need to scan, so it will be a matter of further scoping it out.
Pros: Easy, good quality images & scans. Cons: Poor design for repair, gear mechanism broke.
Had for 6 months, and the gear mechanism for feeding paper broke. Impossible to take apart & fix! Really bad mechanical design, not made for easy repair. Am going to trash it and go back to epsons. I have owned many epsons, at home and work, and never had one break. Only reason I ever got rid of an epson was due to outdated printing technology.
This is the best buy for your money. Other than being an ink pig and slow warming up it is great. I used to own an old HP printer and it was a piece of trash. This printer is a beauty. It looks great and matches our dell computer. It is pictbridge compatible and prints very high quality prints. It is easy to use and very nice.
