Pros: Ultra compact, user friendly, good image quality,ISO 50, tough Stainless Steel Body, fast operation
Cons: 2X optical zoom, weak flash, poor battery life, chromatic aberration, limited manual exposure capability
The new Canon PowerShot SD100 (Digital ELPH) is an updated version of Canon's very popular S230 digicam, a tiny stainless steel digicam that was regarded by many as the ultimate “shirt-pocket” camera. If you’ve used the S230 (or the S400) yo ...

Great point and shoot camera

by tgregoryt Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 24 '05
Pros: size, Canon optics, Canon brand
Cons: Unusual battery, low zoom capability
Back in the days when I was photography was my living, (which were the days of film), Canon was at the leading edge of technology. Basically if you had a single lens reflex camera (SLR), you either had a Nikon or a Canon. And Canon was the one that did ...

Rookie preferred, ease to use, lots of functions, SMALL

by ike301 , Dec 29 '03
Pros: TINY. LIGHT. Easy to use. Lots of functionality. Rechargable battery is great.
Cons: Zoom sucks. Have to update firmware for non-canon memory cards (i.e. sandisk).
As a first time buyer, this cam probably suits my persona the best. Lightweight, tiny, sturdy, rechargable battery, and 3.2 megapix, this camera was a match made in heaven. With easy touch pad menus, functionality took less than 2 weeks to learn. ...

Pros: Size, quick battery charge, great quality pictures and movies.
Cons: Panoramic option isn't easy to find. Only 2x zoom.
I searched for weeks through reviews all over the internet trying to find a great camera at a price I could handle. One of the reasons this camera became an option to me was because a friend of mine had the Canon S230 and I loved the look, feel, and size ...

SD100 Great Choice for Beginners

by caveney , Jan 10 '04
Pros: Price, Size, weight, Movie Mode up to 3 minutes
Cons: slightly flimsy, no protection of LCD screen, only 2x zoom
The SD100 is a good addition to the stable of high quality Canon digital cameras. The market is becoming so saturated with choices in the low-mid price range that one can find many relatively equivalent choices amenable to simple price comparisons. ...

Canon PowerShot SD100 elph is Awesome!

by imhopinion , Mar 17 '04
Pros: Tiny, durable metal body, great quality pictures, fast operation, very easy for beginners to use.
Cons: I refuse to complain considering the price, size and quality of the photos!
I own 3 Sony digitals and love them all. The problem was that I needed something small and durable for taking on roof jobs where I document repairs with photos. The Canon SD100 not only fit the bill, it far surpassed my expectations. In addition to the ...

Pros: small, great quality, many features
Cons: only comes with a 16 MB memory card!

Awesome Credit Card Size Camera
by kubilay ,Mar 03 '04
Pros: Not so many manual options
Cons: High quality photos and videos, credit card size, durable case
This camera combines excellent optical and digital engineering in a solid, compact body with amazing features like video recording with sound. It is very durable. I usually carry it without a case in my pocket while climbing, snowboarding but not while diving or swimming. It is ideal for those who wants to carry a camera everywhere. It is so small that you can not feel it in your pocket.

I like it - perfect for beginners and more advanced users
by katieholmes789 ,Feb 01 '07
Pros: compact, intuitive controls, manual and auto shooting modes, storage card.
Cons: after 2 years, battery not as good. Small LCD.
I've had this camera for over 2 years now, and I'm still pretty happy with it.
Its simple to use and has some advanced features as well.
I like cannons overall, because they allow you to see a preview of the taken picture under a second and then bounce right back into shooting mode. Unlike, kodaks for example, which take 2-5 seconds to process a shot before you can take the next picture.

It uses an SD card. I still have a 128MB card, and that fits about 50 pictures, on the highest quality - not bad at all.

One bad thing is, after two years, the battery life is going down the drain. It'll say the battery is fully charged and then will show it empty within 30 minutes of use. It wasn't a problem before, so I just attribute this to the battery being old and needing replacement.
Also, the lcd preview window is a bit small, by todays standards, but is still ok.
