Cons: Weak flash, tiny battery, red-eye, chromatic aberration, noisy ISO 400 images
The SD300 (Digital Ixus 40 in Europe and IXY DIGITAL 50 in Japan) is the second digicam (the SD200 was the first) to feature Canon's new second-generation DIGIC II processor. DIGIC Processors (Digital Imaging Integrated Circuit) combine image processing ...

Pros: Small design, easy to use. Cons: Not manually controllable, not as good as film.
I am absolutely amazed at how far digital cameras have gone. I really did not think they would be as small as they are, as cheap, or as easy to use. Definitely ahead of my pessimistic predictions. Yet, they are still not as good as an SLR film camera. ...
Pros: Tiny, Excellent Image Quality, Feature-Filled, Easy to Learn and Operate, DIGIC-II, Big LCD Cons: Very Little Manual Control, Smallish Battery, Small Viewfinder (but no smaller than anyone elses)
Canon's ELPH series cameras revolutionized the photo industry when they literally reinvented the term "micro-cam." The ELPH's contained a smattering of intuitive features package neatly in a diminutive sized machine, about as small as a pack of ...
Pros: Size, appearance, zoom, picture quality Cons: small flash, less manual features, external charger
I decided to go to a local camera shop one day after school, just to play with their extensive stock of high-end consumer digital cameras. My friend and I played with all the ultra-compact cameras, including the Optio S series of cameras (the ones that ...
Pros: SMALL SIZE, battery life improved, download features, better quality construction than previous elphs. Cons: Updated:11/15/06 Starting to malfunction and overexpose pics- I guess we had a good run?
Update 11/15/06- I guess I can't complain a lot...but I can always complain a little. A couple of issues I have encountered: Not sure why but SO many of my pictures now are over-exposed, I have to trash about half of them. The flash timing or focus ...
Pros: You'll take it everywhere, and you will capture the shot! Cons: Short battery life, red eye, some vignetting.
So youre thinking about the SD300 huh? Good choice. Very good choice. We just bought the SD300 in December of 2004. I researched cameras for about a month before deciding on this one. Whats funny is, I decided on this camera the day I ...
Pros: small, solid feel, huge LCD, minimal shutter lag, good quality pictures, fast startup Cons: cheap plastic covers, lack of full manual controls
I own a Canon S30 that I bought a few years ago... after being dropped a lot, it works as often as it doesn't and thus began the process of finding a replacement. I took the middle road when I purchased my first digi-cam, meaning that I got a medium ...
Pros: Pocket size, great movies modes (6 modes), fluid LCD, construction is awesome! Cons: Too small = difficult one hand control (a must for me); power button issues
First and foremost, Inherent flaws in small cameras: -picture quality is poorer due to small lenses, weak flash and its not as easy to keep stable in your hands -red eye: small cameras usually have the flash close to the shutter which results in ...
Pros: Great still shots for a microcamera, credit card size, great video, easy to use Cons: Limit of 9 minutes of video per GB. Says its USB 2.0 but isnt
We just had a baby and wanted a dual-role camera...one small enough to take everywhere for good quality shots, and ideally something that could also take short video clips with sound. I made a huge mistake in assuming that the best choice would be ...
Pros: Small, good features, good quality make Cons: Questionable picture quality...maybe!
This is one very good, very reasonably priced digital camera that offers good quality pictures and a stack of features. The fact that it was a 4.2 Megapixel digital camera, and that it was a Canon lens drew me toward it first, and I believe it’s the ...
Pros: Super fast! Compact, but with ergonomic controls. Great interface. Cons: No cradle; no battery life indicator; cheap battery cover.
We switched from Canon's very old S30 primarily because it has been unable to allow us to take good pictures of our kids. Kids have a tendency to move a lot and S30 was too slow to focus and to release shutter. The S30 was also very bulky. So I've done a ...
Pros: 4 Megapixels. Tiny. Fast. Big LCD Screen. Awesome Movie Mode. External Battery Charger. Cons: Battery Life. Access to Manual Mode.
This is one of the best point-and-shoot 4 megapixel cameras currently being produced. As with all Canon PowerShot SD series cameras, the SD300 is very easy to use. Since the specs are easily accessible (click on ...
Pros: Compactness, large LCD, light weight, fast view action, included software, underwater features. Cons: No battery strength indicator on camera, LCD scratches easily, movies are sometimes hard to playback.
This camera is great for size and quality, but if you want a camera that's dependable don't get this one. The battery life is horrible. Also, there is no way to find out how much battery is left. A red battery icon blinks just as the camera is about to ...
Pros: Size, weight, recycle speed, power-on to first shot speed, ease of use. Cons: Price tag, included SD card too small for any real use.

Pros: Canon quality lens, Digic II, reliable. The best quality in the smallest package. Period. Cons: Extra $100 spent for accessories (case, spare battery and memory).
Thought I'd share my personal *non-professional* experience. For technical specifications and critiques, see other reviews. . . A little pricy, I must admit, but worth it. . . in today's age of disposable everything, I can already tell that this is a ...
Pros: easy to use out of the box; learn more as you need it. Cons: **UPDATE**
Error#18 seems to be a widespread problem with this model.

I was in love...till the screen cracked by andykay ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: Size, picture quality, ease of use Cons: it BREAKS!
When I first bought this camera, I was in love. So tiny, such quality. All that ended when the screen broke the first time. It wasn't mis handled and it wasn't dropped, the last time it broke it was sitting on top of a hotel room TV. I'm guessing it was the massive temp change from 95 to 75 degrees. I then did more research beyond the pro site and new user reviews here. What I found was that I wasn't alone. Many people complain about the Canon SD line's fragile screen. Take this as a warning or better yet, just Google Canon+Cracked+LCD and see for yourself. It is a shame that Canon has made such a pocketable camera that can't be carried in a pocket. Canon's 7 day service promise takes about 3 weeks, most of the summer went by, including 2 vacations while my camera was being repaired. I'm waiting for my SD300 to come back from Canon so I can put it up on EBAY and purchase a more durable camera. Don't make the mistake I did, do the research!
small and lightweight: Canon Powershot SD300 by sweetie76 ,Sep 18 '06
Pros: lightweight, small(compact), easy to use even for a novice with a digital camera. Cons: flash does not work with digital macro pictures, no cover for lcd screen.
I bought this product because I needed to be able to upload pictures to my computer, instead of always scanning in 35mm ones. This makes it very easy and I find it a pretty good little camera. I have had it now since January, it has certainly given me my money worth with the quality of pictures. As well as the quantity of pictures that I have taken with it. The battery lasts longer then I expected, especially where I take a lot of indoor pictures and use the flash a lot. I have also dropped it a few times, from 6 inches high to a couple of feet off the ground(not recommended, of course), but it still works like the day I purchased it. Overall, I am satisfied with this camera and am happy with my purchase.
Pros: Small, great sharpness, color, and flash, durable, large screen, super fast start up. Cons: slightly more costly than others, but worth it!
I have had several of the Pentax Optios, and this camera is better. Much sharper, better color, better flash, and better exposures. I was always adjusting the finished Pentax pics, but these I almost never need to do anything with. This camera is better and small with a larger screen.
Pros: compact, 4 mpixels, large lcd, nice lens, durable. Cons: lots of other great 4 mp cameras.
The SD300 addressed all of my problems with the previous SD110. Canon also bumped up the megapixels to 4 as well. It has a large 2-inch LCD and uses SD cards, which can be found for almost nothin' these days. It offers full-res burst mode @ 2.4 fps and video at 30 fps (640x480). It's got a nice lens as well w/ now 3x optical zoom.
In general canon cameras last forever, and I'm sure this baby will too. I'm a canon fan and they haven't let me down here.
Pros: size, portability, interface, ease of one-handed use, image quality Cons: proprietary battery life, no battery power indicator, no zoom during filming, some red-eye
It has poise, it has elegance, as point and shoot digital cameras go I'm very happy with my sleek new SD300 digital EPLH. Though nothing could compare with the quality of my trusty manual Olympus, I got sick of paying development costs, and since most of my pictures ended up on-line anyway, I finally decided to bite the digital bullet. I sacrificed the quality of a digital SLR in favour of a camera that was about the same size as my cell phone and could fit into any purse at any event. It is easy to use, turns out great quality photos and is even a great conversation piece at parties.
Canon PowerShot SD300 - Love it! by rapunzel2 ,Dec 13 '04
Pros: - Small Size
- Abundant Features
- Photo quality is great for a P&S camera Cons: - Price
I love my new digital camera! It is very small size camera, with a large 2.0" LCD display. The menus and settings are easy to use and the movie mode is great for me since I have kids, and it's nice to have both the camera and movie mode in one small unit.
Great Pocket Camera, easy to use and excellent pictures by omalon ,Apr 26 '05
Pros: Great pocket camera and easy to use. Great movie/video. Cons: None
Bought the SD300 for my wife for Christmas and her first picture was the best she has ever taken. She wanted a camera that was easy to carry in her hand bag, easy to use, great picture quality and this one fits the bill. I have used the movie/video feature and it ia the best I have seen. However, you need a high speed SD card (512mb) to use all the features effectively.
good or bad? that is the question by aztigerlilly ,Jul 28 '05
Pros: small, tons of memory space, affordable, durable frame Cons: slow flash, no interchangeable lens
this little number has everything you could possibly need at half of the retail price. i would absolutely suggest investing in one, you know, just to try it out and see for yourself. it's so small and compatible, you can take it along with you anywhere. no need to worry about looks because this one's got it covered all the way, no doubt. and, to top it all off, it has twice the amount of space as it's leading competitors.
Canon SD300 Sophistication Simplified! by v600man ,Jan 23 '06
Pros: Solid design, Excellent Quality photos, Ease of use, great 4 Megapixel Digital Camera ! Cons: Poorly designed USB door -- May break after extensive use. 16MB memory Card insufficient.
I use this camera for point and shoot photos only! That being said, it's great for people who don't want to fuss with many settings (like myself), although you can if you wish.
I like the compact solid design, large LCD, rechargeable battery, and ease of use.
For my use (photos only/no videos), the long battery life is a definite positive. The included 16MB card is light by any standard -- so plan on buying a larger memory card. Connectivity to the Canon Selphy Photo Printer is easy and quick. (No PC required)
The USB connection port "door" is a little flimsy. I can see this breaking after extensive use.
I'm not a professional in the area of digital cameras, but I've owned a few, and this one takes great pictures!
Pros: Small, quick and full of quality. A must buy for families. Cons: Battery can go dead without warning, but it does last a long time.
Wow was I impressed with this camera. We bought it to take pictures of our daughter as we went on holiday and were all really impressed. It is so small and easy to use (something we love). Even my daughter could take a couple of pictures.
Plus you can make movies, now that is really cool. If you want a camera that is fast and takes good pictures this is the one for you.
