Pros: linear, powerful, punchy bass exceptional sound quality Cons: expensive
The JL W7 line is one of the best subwoofer lines available. They are slightly on the pricey side but if you want the best you have to pay for it. I am running a 10W7 from a 500/1 and focal utopia components off a 450/4 with focal polyglass coaxials for ...

More than I expected
by thag0ld3nchyld ,Jun 15 '06
Pros: Having the ability to wake up every neighbor at 3am within a five block radius Cons: pricey to own: because of the required amp and special box
I impulsively bought my w7 not knowing what I was getting into. I bought it for $350 which may seem like a bargain for a W7 but include the required 500\1 JL amp, installation and the special enclosure this sub needs and the grand total ended up being around $900. My first impression of my sound system was that it was overkill. Even on the lowest setting my eardrums felt like they were about to blow out of my head. This sub is one powerful piece of engineering let me tell ya, the sound quality is amazing too. When I pick up my girlfriend, I no longer call her cell phone to come out, I turn up the bass and when she feels the vibrations from inside her apartment, she knows to come out. Although investing in this sub was expensive as hell, it was worth EVERY damn penny and I dont regret it one bit.

ditto awesome subs
by djjimb70 ,Feb 19 '05
Pros: great bass tone reproduction at all volumes, quality build, Cons: very expensive it took me several months to buy them.
I have two 10w7's in my impala ss and they sound incredible! I love the tones they reproduce with different types of music. They can also make the boom crowd happy with very bass heavy music.
I have tested them with all types of music from john mellencamp,zztopp,vanhalen,korn,bbking,50 cent,jayz/lynkinpark,badcompany,various reggae. No matter what you listen to these subs perform very well. If you can afford them buy them you won't be disappointed!

Bigger, however is not alway...
by james_dt3002 ,Aug 20 '02
Bigger, however is not alway better-as much as I can praise this Sub it also has some very annoying problems to watch for. Upon purchasing the 10W7 and corresponding 500 watt amp., I was told that it wasnt delivering enough power-so if you want the W7 you may want to include two power caps, a new battery, a new alternator ($$$), and about all the dynomatt you can afford...after just 4 days I had the W7 removed-the result, a dead battery, no money left to get another system and just about every screw, window and panel in my car was loose from the massive vibrations!
