Polk Audio MM12 Car Subwoofer

Pros: Cost, quality, warranty, sound
Cons: can't hit extreme lows.

I am very impressed with this sub & handling the majority of bass that gets thrown at it. It sounds decent when it's under powered & can hang very well when it has the right amount of power. The recommended box size for this is .88 cu. ft. My only issue is that this sub & box can't handle the real deep bass. Instead you can hear the sub try to hit, but it either baffles or sounds way distorted. I recommend purchasing the sub & building your own box of 1.2 Cu ft.

Pros: The MM12 bumped harder than a huge 12" Bandpass box that holds a Rockford Fosgate
Cons: Price vs excellence :in this case SEE & HEAR IT

I have seen this speaker in a picture at the Crutchfield website... I thought it looked pretty cool...Happened to see it on sale at Fry's Electronics for $299!..the 10" sub was only $199!.. I decided to buy it and check it out...When I pulled it out of the box in the parking lot people were staring at what was coming out.. I placed it in my new Scion XB trunk...connected my amp to it.. jumped in and...discovered not all subs are equal..I knew that but, this time I received it wholeheartedly. The first thing I noticed was how many ranges the speaker was picking up. I went home looked at the box and finally understood what the importance of a frequency response was. 20hz means that the speaker was able to pick up in the music bass at that low frequency..I no longer think one must buy two sizes of subs running at the same time to get that effect.
