Pros: One of the only decks that decodes WMA files in this price range. Cons: Media Expander isn't all it's cracked up to be, Volume knob clumsy to use.
When buying a new truck or car, replacing the factory stereo is a must. This unit is a great buy, especially since it has dropped about $75 from when I bought it. The main reason I bought it is because it also has an WMA decoder. I burn most of my music ...
Pros: low cost and lots of features for the money Cons: short ID tag and poor "media xpander" option
I have actually had my 9807 for about seven months now, but I have waited on reviewing it until I got a good feel for the head unit (HU). I have it in my Maxima, which I don't drive very much (less than 1500 miles the since last May). The reason I ...
excellent entry level unit by radioflyer97 ,Apr 18 '06
Pros: Clean strong sound, simple operation, durable. Cons: lacks advanced sound processing for larger systems
First alpine unit I've owned, (had a Jensen, Kenwood, Eclipse and sony before) the CDA 9807 had easy access to basic controls (anything else can be done in a parking lot) After about a week, i had the control setup memorized by touch. Easy to read display with bright enough graphics to be seen even in direct sunlight. simple operation, no mechanics to break (unlike powered face units) so far 2 years of faithful operation with no problems. Excellent sound quality on a set of matching alpine s type speakers and subs. highly recommended for entry level sound systems.
Why not to buy this product by jimyz33 ,Jun 12 '04
Pros: It looks really sharp. Cons: Ease of use, sound quality, minimal adjustment capability.
Alpine has been one of the leading manufactures of head units for many years. This unit is no exception to their history of poorly made products. The menu systems are complicated and cannot be easily accessed while driving, that's what it's for, isn't it? Complex operation is not the only down side to this unit, it also has a very limited crossover and just flat out doesn't sound good. Before you question my opinion, please take a look at my experience and background.

Please save yourself the trouble and don't buy a piece of crap like this.
