Beware! Bad info on shopping.com
by jlengelke ,Apr 02 '04
Pros: Panasonic makes great equipment! This one is great if you don't want MP3 Cons: Misguided by shopping.com! Beware! This stereo will not play Mp3 CD's
I used shopping.com formerly dealtime.com to choose an in dash stereo mp3 player receiver. I used their site to choose a stereo in the $150-200 price range with MP3 capabilities. I decided on the Panasonic CQ-HR1003U which said on the site could play mp3's. I ordered it from etronics.com which I was referred to by shopping.com for the best price. Using the info I had received, I ordered this unit. I installed the unit and tried to use an MP3 cd which wouldn't work. I referred to the owners manual and did all the steps they listed to insure proper playing. Finally I noticed the part number, 1003U which in the manual said does not play mp3's but the 1083U did. Shopping.com listed both of these as Mp3 playing stereo's. When I tried to contact Shopping.com I left a message and no one replied. Please double check your information and don't trust shopping.com!
I had to keep the stereo because it had already been installed. I do like it but I wish I could play MP3 cd's. That was the whole reason I bought it.

Simple-minded stylish stereo
by sac86738 ,Sep 18 '03
Pros: Large letters and numbers, easy to use, minimal learning curve, MUTE/ATT button! Cons: Can't adjust frequencies of highs, mid-range, and lows.
My experience using this deck has been nothing but pleasurable.
I bought this deck because it was touchscreen (cool factor), and it has that whiz-bang effect on me. Also, the features on the deck are simple; it's very easy to take a glance and see exactly what's going on... what radio station you're on, what track/time you're on.
What I love most about this deck is that it keeps the features nice and simple, and the most-used features (for me) such as bass and treble, are only one touch away. The deck is intuitive, but a little too intuitive for some, who had a hard time just figuring out how to switch the source from CD to Tuner. (Hint: press the space where it says "CD".)
What I hate most about this deck, though, is that there are not MORE features to it... features like being able to adjust frequencies, rather than just bass and treble. For a deck this unique, you think they would make the sound just a little more adjustable than bass and treble.
