Pros: Much improved interior, refinement, highway passing ability Cons: Blah exterior, cramped rear seat, pricey The Bottom Line: If an upscale interior and smooth, composed ride are your top priorities, the LaCrosse is worth a look. But most buyers will be happier in the 300 or Five Hundred.
Through the mid-1980s GM owned the midsize car market. Two decades later, it is struggling to remain a player in a segment now dominated by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. During the 1990s Oldsmobile was given the task of challenging the import brands ...

Pros: Excellent quality. Beautiful styling. Phenomenal fuel economy Cons: Radio buttons. No external decklid handle The Bottom Line: A very attractively styled car at a rather modest price. Buicks have always been good to me and the LaCrosse is no exception!
On March 12, 2005, my girlfriend traded her thoroughly mediocre 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan for a new Buick LaCrosse CX. The Cutlass had been experiencing chronic cooling system problems. When she was confronted with the prospect of paying another $535 ...

Pros: Quiet and smooth, I thought I was in a Lexus Cons: A few more luxury features would put this car ahead of the pack. The Bottom Line: Go test drive this car, pretend you're at the Lexus dealership.
My test drive of the LaCrosse CXS left me with a very good first impression. The CXS version has the 3.6-liter VVT (variable valve timing) DOHC V6 engine, with 24 valves. I've owned three GM cars with their 3.8 liter V6 engine, which is what comes in ...

Pros: Low price luxury/sport
Powerful and quiet Cons: Tight rear seat entry with a car seat
Intermittent, slight rattle in the dash The Bottom Line: Compared to Acura, Benz, VW, CTS, Pontiac G6, this car was the best appointed and performing for our money.
I am a CXS owner since 2 Jan 05 with 3200 miles on the clock. Overall the car has been excellent. On 3 May I had a brake recall service accomplished. The part needed to complete the recall was not in stock, so the dealership provided a LaCrosse CX for a ...

Pros: Smooth, quiet ride, nice styling, powerful engine, reasonable pricing, simulated wood-grain interior. Cons: Limited color choices, seats could be softer, rear seat trunk access on CX. The Bottom Line: Recommendation is to buy. The look, quality, driving experience, and power is an excellent buy for the price of the LaCrosse.
I needed a comfortable car with a smooth ride for my daily commute to work, which is a 150-mile round trip. This car does the job, and gets approx. 22 miles per gallon on this commute, which involves a fair amount of stop-and-go traffic. I compared the ...

Pros: solid structure, buttery leather, Jag style Cons: rear tail lights make the car look like a Taurus, fully loaded can be expensive The Bottom Line: If you're in the market for a classically styled beauty, this is your car!
The first time I saw this car at the dealership I thought it was a Jaguar. This is by far the best looking Buick to date (at least in the front). While I was getting my oil changed I decided that I would take this car for a test drive. The car I test ...

Pros: Quiet, smooth ride. Ample power. Good mileage. Pleasing to look at. Cons: Chrome wheel option (plastic covers). Cost of some options. Cup holders are hard to use. The Bottom Line: Considering a vehicle that is a decent size, will give you fairly good economy, and not cost you a fortune for maintenance then look at this young man's Buick.
Living in Canada I purchased the "Allure" which is the same vehicle as the LaCrosse but renamed for the Canadian market. After researching almost every write up on this vehicle and test driving almost every competitor's vehicle that I thought would fall ...

Pros: If I drive the Lacrosse reasonably, the mileage is comparable to my Sable trade-in.
Cons: The Goodyear Integrity OEM tires had to be replaced by the dealer. Wouldn't balance right. The Bottom Line: Forget the imports! At least try the Buick Lacrosse AND COMPARE!
GM has produced a great vehicle in the Lacrosse. My friends who love to brag about their Camrys and Camry clones are quieter now that they've experienced the Lacrosse. It is the smoothest, quietest car I've ever owned! I loved my 3.0 V6 Mercury Sable ...

Pros: quiet ride, powerful CXL, safety Cons: can't think of any
I recently got hit by another vehicle (T-boned by a full size car) in my driver's side door. the other car was traveling about 40 mph and the LaCrosse really came through. no air bags went off, the door was really banged up bad (wouldn't open) but the glass did not shatter and I was fine (wearing my seatbelt). After the accident I wanted to contact GM and let them know that this car is a tank and that I put it to the test! Otherwise I love the car (CXL model) for a lot of other reasons (quiet, powerful, etc.).

Pros: Ride, quality materials inside and out, styling, available options from family budget to deluxe Cons: OEM tires, side airbags option for 2005 models
I did a lot of research looking for all reasons to buy this car and I was pleased with the one I got. Base CX with four extra features, great value with quality and superb ride. The car is not dead boring+pricy as Camry and Accord but also not fancy for racers (like 300 3.5L I drove as rental, to stiff and also gangster-like-car ugly). Old 3.8L bullet-proof engine is my favorite feature, great fuel economy with nice "jump and go" feel. Better suspension and breaks than older Buicks, not too much useless power/panel controls to make it look expensive. Quiet and comfortable ride, tested on highway within speed limits and got 33 mpg! Combined 22-23 mpg which is OK and expected for V6.
Great family sedan with enough power to jump or cruise in the city or highway.

Pros: smooth, quiet ride!
one of best interiors in GM line
Powerful engine! Cons: body roll in turns,
pricey,
ABS is only optional?
...I am only 35, but I have been a loyal GM buyer since I bought my first car (mostly due to the HUGE discount I get through GMS pricing through my relatives), and after leasing the 2005 LaCrosse, I will continue to be loyal to GM. It seems that Buick, Chevy and Pontiac are really trying hard to compete with all other manufacturer's updates!
Although the technology of the LaCrosse isn't very new, the exterior look and interior feel are very new and fresh, and it drives like a dream!
I compared this car with the Pontiac Grand Prix and the dimensions are almost exact and the engines are exactly the same in both cars' base model (200 hp, 230 lb-ft torque, 3.8L V6), but the LaCrosse is a much, much quieter and smoother ride and much more luxurious inside and out.
Gas mileage isn't too bad for a large mid-size sedan with a 200hp V-6!
