The Ford Explorer Works For Me.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, handles well, nice styling.
Cons: The paint appears to chip easily.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Ford Explorer as a comfortable SUV.

About three months ago, I was issued a new fleet vehicle. It is a dark green 2005 Ford Explorer. I have since put 7,000 miles on it. You can see by the mileage that I spend a good part of my day in this truck, so comfort is one of the most important ...

Pros: Smmoth SUV . Good ride . Roomy for passengers and luggage
Cons: all or nothing heat/cooling . Poor mileage.
The Bottom Line: Good solid SUV . Plenty of room with a smooth drive. Great for a family of three to five , dinks with dogs etc..

The Top Line I had the opportunity to drive a rented 2005 Ford Explorer XLT 4 litre V6 for nearly a week through some pretty tough conditions in the Southern USA. No hurricanes thank goodness – but some awesome thunderstorms between the 97 ...

A Good SUV.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Visibility, Comfort
Cons: Lack of Power, Transmission issues
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a good SUV that has room, this is a buy.

I use the Explorer at work, and it goes 100-150 miles daily with my foot on the accelerator. I have driven it in all conditions, and for thousands of miles. To be honest, I know it better than my own house. It is a competent vehicle, and is well built. ...

Pros: The DVD player Great in Snow!
Cons: Gas mileage
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend! We love this SUV!

As far as comforts are concerned, this SUV has everything you would want in a vehicle. My Eddie Bauer came with heated seats, heated mirrors, two tone leather seats, third row seating, mounted steering wheel controls, DVD entertainment (a must) and tons ...

Pros: Runs great, great service, fun!
Cons: Service lights are a little over-sensitive. Went it once and nothing was wrong.
The Bottom Line: This is a great truck and is fun and adventurous, too.

I bought a ford explorer sport trac in February 2005. I wanted either a Frontier or the Sport Trac. After going to other dealerships, I knew I was not going to be happy without getting my truck. I loved the way the Sport Trac handled over any other ...

Pros: design of pull handles for doors, excellent interior trim, capability, audiophile stereo system.
Cons: 5R55E c-3.
I am amazed every time I enter and drive this fine SUV. The grip handles for the doors have notches for your fingers, as do the assist handles you grab while pulling yourself up into this SUV. Seats are comfortable. This was Ford's bread and butter for years, and it shows. This is the vehicle that made them big money. So when the redesign came in 2002, the improvements were vast over the prior model. Now if only a better transmission were to be had... Aisin? Oh and why wont U-haul rent a trailer to me? They will rent a trailer to you if you own the identical SUV, the Mercury Mountaineer, but no trailer for the Explorer! Dumb! Evil!

Worst car I've owned

Pros: Roomy
Cons: Record low reliability
Where to start?

This car has been in the shop as much as it's been on the road. In about a year of driving, it's had:

- Failed wiper/washer control arm.
- Thermostat fell off into water pan.
- AC failed
- Automatic door locks broke.
- Sticking accelerator
- Unable to start with no apparent reason

I've had more problems with this car in a year than I have with all the other cars I've owned in the last 15 years COMBINED. I will never buy another Ford again.

Pros: 4X4 power, light size to power ratio, Cool factor
Cons: gas mileage
We bought this new and traded in our F150. When we first looked for a new vehical due to the growth of our three teenaged sons. The backseat has a ton of room for them to stretch those long legs. I really loved the surprising power in the snow and the lightness of its size. It gave me the ability to go over some of the piles pushed up by the plows, where I was having to go thru them with the F150. Gas mileage was abit of a disappointment of only 20 hwy and 15 city. We are taking it to Moab this year to try it out for reals.

Pros: RIDE, QUALITY, PRICE AND LOOKS ARE THE BEST !!!!
Cons: I BOUGHT IT NOT KNOWING THE 2006 WAS GOING TO CHANGE A LITTLE.
I HAVE HAD MY 2005 FORD EXPLORER EDDIE BAURER FOR 3 MONTHS NOW AND I LOVE IT. I ENDED UP GETTING IT EQUIPPED WITH THE FACTORY DVD AND THE MOONROOF. THE SOUND THAT COMES OUT OF THAT STEREO WHEN WATCHING A FILM IS UNREAL... ITS LIKE THE MOVIE THEATER.. THE RIDE THE COMFORT AND THE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IS HARD TO BEAT.

Does its job, but it's a little boring

Pros: Price, exterior styling, compact size with roomy interior.
Cons: Dull, boring driving experience. Dated interior styling.
I bought this car to replace my 1999 Blazer with a 5-speed. The Ford, with a big 4.6 liter V8 certainly has more power, but there is a definite lag between the time you push the accelerator to the time the big SUV gets going, and it makes a good deal of engine noise as it gets moving.

I have the Eddie Bauer, which is attractive, although the interior is a little dated. It does what it is supposed to do, and things generally are in the right place, except for the buttons for the seat warmers, which are located down on the outboard side of the seat, and I always have to search a while before locating the switch.

The sticker on this car said $39,000, which no-one does or should pay for it. But for around $28-29,000, it's not a bad SUV for the money.

No problems with quality or repairs, although there were some cosmetic issues when I purchased the car, which the dealer grudgingly fixed.

Having been pampered by a BMW dealer, I had forgotten that not all dealers treat their customers like kings.....
You get what you pay for, I guess.

Pros: Quiet, cool, nice-looking, has everything.
Cons: Poor milage (like all SUVs and trucks)
We bought our 2005 Ford Explorer to tow our Camping Trailer and it is comfortable, quiet, and has all the bells and whistles. It is a pretty reliable car, but probably not as reliable as let's say- a Toyota? It's a pretty nice-looking car, too. As with all SUVs, the milage is poor, this can be a problem with the gas prices. We got ours for $30,000 brand new!
