Pros: Off-road performance, brakes, safe, comfortable front seats, versatile interior space
• Defects/problems: zero Cons: Glove box, plastic cladding on rear door that traps dirt. The Bottom Line: This vehicle perfectly meets our transportation needs and wants. My family of 4 people 1 large dog fits perfectly.
I purchased a Jeep Liberty about six weeks ago. I wanted an affordable vehicle that I could comfortably and safely drive to work and back through stop-and-go traffic, haul landscaping and building supplies for DIY projects on the weekend, and could be ...

Pros: Design, material quality, ride quality, space, it's a Jeep 4x4. Cons: I have yet to find any worth mentioning. The Bottom Line: It's a Wrangler trapped in a baby Grand Cherokee's body. If you want a Jeep, this is it.
For about a year, I have been trying to get rid of my 2001 Daewoo Nubira without being turned over and beaten with a hose. Then a couple months ago, I was able to get rid of it. Now, I've had "two" dream cars my entire life: Bimmer and Jeep. So I decided ...

Pros: Engine, headlights, handling, engine sound, interior styling, exterior styling, cargo space, off-road capabilities Cons: Windshield bug splatting, stoplight viewing for the tall, stock tires, gasoline hunger The Bottom Line: It handles well, moves people and stuff well, is a safe vehicle, and has ample power. So get it, you won't be disappointed! It also stops well in snow.
I purchased this vehicle in March 2005 with help from my family as a birthday present to replace my aging 89 Buick Riviera. I bought this vehicle for several reasons. I wrecked my old vehicle in a blizzard in West Virginia. I shopped around for ...

Pros: Is a LOT more roomy than it appears; nice, smooth ride Cons: Needs more "cubbies" for stuff (change, etc.); so far, that is my ONLY "complaint" The Bottom Line: I totally LOVE my Jeep Liberty and am definitely planning on eventually trading up to a better model with more of the bells and whistles I want!
My prior car was costing too much to fix and was in the shop so much that it was time to buy another. We were looking for a nice used car in the same size range as the Ford Taurus I had. Purely on a lark, I test drove a 2002 Liberty, fully expecting to ...

Pros: Styling, roominess, capability Cons: Gas mileage The Bottom Line: I recommend the Renegade - it is the best of the three models they offer and the most capable.
I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade. For the most part, I am pleased with my purchase. I was looking for a more capable SUV that still maintained some car-like qualities. I looked at such offerings as a Kia Sportage and Sorento, the ...

Pros: Mileage, resale, towing, great off roading, reliability, unique, rare, can run on alternative fuels. Cons: Limited production, dealers may mark up prices, can't buy it new in 5 CARB states. The Bottom Line: The Jeep Liberty CRD is a true off-roader and has great towing, a great transmission, and a great turbo diesel engine with great mileage.
The long awaited Jeep Liberty CRD is finally here! I was anxiously awaiting the release of the Jeep Liberty CRD, and I am one of the first CRD owners in the US. The Jeep Liberty CRD is the first American SUV diesel sold in the US in 20 years. There is ...

Ok, so I just got rid of a lemon of a car, (please refer to my epinion review of the 1999 Cadillac STS).... and I decided to get into an SUV. I didn't want one of those huge overbearing SUV's, so I was looking at SUV's such as the Toyota RAV4, Honda ...

The Bottom Line: The "Limited" is not worth the extra $ 4,000. We recommend to buy the "Sport" version and upgrade it.

Pros: Great gas mileage
Drives well
Great design
Lots of cargo space
Cons: none
I bought this car back in May (memorial day weekend), got a hell of a deal on it, brand new out the door with tax and everything for 16,000. Anyway, this car is everything I've ever wanted out of an SUV. I test drove some other mid size SUV's and none of them could compare to the Liberty. The car drives like a dream and I haven't had any major problems with it. Only thing so far was it was leaking oil at 3,000 miles, got it fixed while under warranty. Then the recall on something at 6,000 miles, and I had to take it in today because the check engine light went on, turns out it was a computer glitch. As I said before, it's a great car, looks great, drives great, completely satisfied!

Pros: Engine is sweet worth the extra $6000 Cons: Smaller than the 4runner but better than the rest
Wow the diesel is the finest engine in the liberty at $32,000 it better be. I was going to get the 4runner but at the same price i can get a superior engine that should have a higher resale than even toyota! Problem im having is i love driving this thing around i just put the plates on and have 5,500 on the odomiter hehe. Compared to the Subaru Tribeca its hands down a better 4x4 on and off the road no problems with rust eating you subaru been there done that. Get a jeep i also have had 8 wranglers and love them 2.

Pros: agressive look, powerful, offroading, LIGHTBAR, everything!!!!! Cons: glovebox is a bit small, thats about it
i've had my 2005 liberty renegade since july, and after about 4,500 miles i'm lovin it. I drove it all the way from NY to Canada, about 2,100 miles. it has lots of power gets up hills no problem and is pretty fast, got it up to about 110mph. it rides great, easy to control, has a lot more room than it looks from the outside, the factory 6 cd changer and subwoofer under the drivers seat make an awesome system.. added an amp to make it even better.
now heres the FUN part, offroading, if u like off road this is the suv to have, it drives over everything!!, the lightbar is one of the coolest parts, makes any dark path super bright.
People complain about the gas mileage, yea its not so good, i get like 17/20, but its an SUV, what do u expect.if u want good gas mileage go buy a little toyota or somethin.

Pros: CRD is a great engine that makes the Libery fun to drive. Cons: Limited room for 4 adults makes long trips uncomfortable.
My wife and I have owned 5 Jeep Liberties, starting from when they first came out. We recently traded in 2 2002 liberties for a 2005 CRD. Wow, have they improved the Liberty in the past 3 years. The ride is much smoother, the styling is more classic Jeep than the older, cuter Liberty, and the brakes and transmission are great. In addition, the CRD engine is a wonderful engine, with good torque providing great acceleration. I think that the current Liberty is the best yet, and I would rate it five stars.

Our new Jeep out of the blue...

Pros: Nice interior, fun to drive Cons: Low MPG
We were looking to trade in our horrible Isuzu Rodeo, and had our eyes on several different cars and SUVs. I was very interested in the new body style Jeep Grand Cherokee, so we took a look at those. While test driving, we realized that the Grand Cherokee drove like a ten ton tank. I see so many on the road, but I did not like it at all!
The Jeep dealership convinced us to test drive a Liberty, which we had never considered before. It was love at first sight! We were very impressed with the interior of the Jeep. The dash is very nice and of good quality. The inside is also very roomy and even though the Liberty is a small SUV, there is still a significant amount of room in the back. In addition, the seats fold down for more room.
The Liberty is especially fun to drive! It is sporty and is not sluggish like bigger SUVs. The MPG is ok...not as good as what the sticker said, but it's still better than most.
I highly suggest test driving a Liberty and seeing if it is right for you.

Pros: n/a Cons: Handles dangerously in water and has poor gas mileage.
This is a beautiful machine. It is very dangerous in wet conditions and will not corner well. I lost it going onto a onramp to a interstate at about 25mph. I was making a gradual right turn on wet pavement and the passenger rear started to come around fish tailing. I turned the wheel to bring it back and it turned all the way around and began skidding backward out of control. I skidded forever it seemed until I came to an abrupt halt just before hitting the concrete bridging of the interstate. I am an excellent driver and thought it may have been oil on the surface until it proved me wrong again sliding past a turn into a parking lot in rain. I was also approached by a gentleman who told me to get rid of the Liberty as his had tried to "kill" him skidding sideways across railroad tracks. They are cute but deadly.

Front end collapsing

Author's Product Rating:
Recommended: Yes
Pros: drives fine so far, no problems yet (except an interior light) Cons: getting into 4 wheel drive a problem, gas guzzler, needs more compartments
I purchased a used 2005 Liberty 4x4 in December of 06. I went to a web site that offered pros and cons. The majority of the reviews was that there was a recall for the 2005 liberty because the front end collapsed on a majority of them. The dealership did not mention this to me nor did it say anything about it in the Car Fax. I've also read the the car had some steering problems along with being a gas guzzler (which I found out quickly). Has any one experienced these problems? I have tried to contact my dealership but have not heard back from them. What should I do? I also read that it had transmission problems along with electrical problems.
