Comfortable Car, But Where's The Power?

by riverrafter247

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Space, handling, fit/finish, driving position, interior comfort
Cons: underpowered drive train with CVT auto.
The Bottom Line: This is a good family car, but the lack of power from the drivetrain and humdrum styling mitigate against recommending it.

In the course of looking for AWD vehicles this past summer, I decided to try out the new Mercury Montego, even though it was larger than the class of vehicle I was concentrating on. From that test drive, and a lot of comments on the vehicle, I was both ... read more

Pros: Roomy interior, Good gas mileage, Huge Trunk, Six Disc CD Player, HID Headlights, Heated Seats.

Summary I first laid eyes on this car & its Ford stablemate at this years autoshow. The friend with whom I went to the auto show quoted me a bit of a review he'd read on the Ford Five Hundred, and now that I've taken a test drive in the 2005 ... read more

Pros: The Volvo cross-breeding definitely shows. The fuel economy is a major plus.
Cons: None found yet, with 2,100 miles on it. Will keep you posted.
Having owned everything from Olds 98's, Bonneville and Grand Prix, Chrysler Cordoba, Volvos (4 or 5), Scouts (several), Grand Cherokee, Dodges, Mercury Mountaineer, Windstar, Toronado, Olds 88's, and even a MG-TD, our new Montego Premier AWD looks like
