Coby DVD-227 DVD Player

Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Doesn't work well.

On Black Friday I bought 2 Coby 227's at GoodGuys for $10. each after rebate. I tried 3 DVD's of new movies on each. Both paused repeatedly during playback, the picture seemed fuzzy and the sound was bad - like a scraping noise that started low at each scene change but got louder as it progressed. Tech support said return the units, which I did. Money is money and at any price this model is not worth the expense.

Pros: cheap, looks good, functional, intact, user friendly remote control.
Cons: the worse quality including picture and playback ever experienced from a brand new product

bought this at the mall on black friday for $15 and it proves to be of cheap quality too!! The picture is dark (even if it's plugged directly into the tv) and has static lines. During play, it can freeze up several times..sometimes it continues the play and sometimes it reverts back to the main menu. Don't waste your money/time on this!

Myself and 2 friends bought one of these each, due to the fact that they can play all regions. Every one of the players died within 6 months, and surprise surprise, when we called the manufacturer, were told that Coby's products only carry a 90 day warranty.

If the manufacturer has no more that 90 days worth of confidence in their own product, well, that says it all there. A word of advise, DO NOT buy anything made by this company.

Even when working the quality was rubbish, sound continuously popping and the tray would not close completely.

STAY AWAY FROM COBY.
