Coby TF-DVD7700 7 in. Portable DVD Player

Cons: it just stops working, two different products.

Purchased this for Xmas 2003 and loved the tablet format. 7 inch screen and compact. However, after about 4 hours of total usage it just died. Would not turn on with either the plug or the charger. Returned it to Buy.com and had another one shipped to me a few days later. Guess what. Same problem. Great concept, horrible product

I bought this for my grandaughter for Christmas. When you put the disc in, it says NO DISC although it powers up. Absolutely no help from either retailer or Coby. I had to purchase a better, more expensive one to replace and am now trying to get the original one working as a spare. I would never purchase another Coby product nor will I ever purchase through Next Day PC again. Has anyone had any success in getting problems fixed or should I just throw it away?

Pros: Great selection of accessories included with package.
Cons: Broke after 5 minutes of use. Poor customer support.

Product played for 5 minutes and then went into standby power mode...and that's where it stays! After reading several reviews I see I'm not alone with this problem. I sent email to Coby tech support and still no reply after 2-days. I tried calling and got an answering machine. I bought at Costco.co and will return for full refund.

Pros: Accessories, design, and the picture was good when it worked.
Cons: Difficulty getting it to play, unit was noisy when playing. Quality and durability were poor.

I purchased the unit because I wanted to use it to entertain my daughter in our car. I wanted it to be transferable between two vehicles and the plus would be that I could use it on trips (camping etc.). The tablet design seemed the best of both worlds, I could strap it to a head rest in the car and prop it up on its easel like leg when out of the car.

The design and accessories were great, the mount to the headrest was secure and all worked well initially. Quality seemed low in the player itself, it had trouble loading disks. Eventually it quit working altogether with the supplied DC adapter. The loading of the disc was always iffy and the unit was noisy.

I like the setup, wish it was higher quality and still worked. So does my daughter!

Pros: Great accessories - 2 headphones, battery, AC/DC power adapters, protective case, auto harness, remote.
Cons: Short unit life.

I had the exact same experience as the previous reviewer. The unit has played about 3 movies, and during our road-trip (for which we bought the unit), it promptly died. It would not power back on and we had to eject the DVD using a paperclip. The thin manual doesn't cover any troubleshooting steps of this nature, and there doesn't appear to be any magical reset button combination. Very disappointed! If it weren't for a good return policy through my retailer, I would have paid about $100 per movie watched.

Pros: Comes complete with everything you need. Small tablet size.
Cons: passed away at young age

Bought Coby Portable DVD for my son for Christmas. Worked great on plane ride. This past week took several of his friends to out of town basketball game and they packed the DVD and several movies. Technical foul on Coby for playing dead!

After reading other reviews I am calling vendor and returning tomorrow.
