Pros: Affordable upgrade. Works in 440BX chipsets. Near 1GHz clock. Cons: Consider for upgrade ONLY. Complete overhaulers advised!
Summary: (Disclaimer: This review assumes that the reader has an understanding of CPUs and the current computer industry as a whole.)
Yes, the Celerons are still alive and kicking, thanks to AMD and their bargin-basement performance CPUs, the Durons. ... read more

Pros: Quality of Intel, cheaper version of processor from Intel. Cons: Slow clock speed progress, same architecture from Pentium.
Summary: For full retail pc customers (beginner's level), Celeron is always seen installed in very cheap systems with a price which can just fit nicely into the insanely low budget of every poor student who desperately desire a PC system. Then, it is the clock ... read more

Pros: Affordable, retail box readily available and doesn't require specialty hardware, such as 300W PS. Cons: Dated architecture, outdated technology, slow and not intended for RAM intensive apps.
Summary: The Intel Celeron processor, basically a stripped Pentium 3 is a value processor designed for those who bear value in mind for their computers. Although it's a reliable processor, but I really can't recommend it if people are looking for even a greater ... read more

Pros: Overclockable;
Worth your money;
Fast to handle most jobs;
Less hot than high-end processors.
Cons: Maybe not have enough performance.
Summary: You can consider me as a Celeron fan since Intel released Celeron 300A (300 mHz with 128 kb 2nd cache). So far both of my PCs contain the Celeron CPUs. One is 300A overclocked to 450 mHz. The other is latest 700 mHz overclocked to 850 mHz. I built both ... read more

Pros: not a thing Cons: more expensive than the more superior AMD Duron. Poor performance.
Summary: AMD Duron and Athalon
AMD has always been lurking in the background of the processor market. It was not until recently that they have come full force into the PC market. Needless to say, they are here to stay!
I have been buying AMD ... read more

Pros: This is a very competitive mobile processor. Cons: early celerons were not too fast with graphics
Summary: When Intel came out with a mobile Pentium 1, they followed it with a better and faster mobile Pentium 2...but the cost was very high. To counteract that Intel came out with a stripped down Pentium 2 called the Celeron (first for the desktop and then for ... read more

Pros: For the price this processor is excellent for newcomers to home computers. Cons: Will not compete with new faster processors for the needs of a veteran PC user.
Summary: This epinion is merely observing how the Celeron processor fits into the home computing market today.
Lately the cost of purchasing the Intel Celeron processor has come down low enough to make buying a new PC seem cheap. For example, you ... read more

Pros: dOES NOT FREEZE UP OR HAVE SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS LIKE AMD K6-2 Cons: THIS IS THE LAST DECENT PROCESSOR INTEL HAS MANUFACTURED
Summary: To start off, I want to talk just about Pentium II class chips. We will talk about Pentium II, AMD K6-2, and of course the Celeron, all of which are pentium II class chips. You have probably picked Pentium II class for the price. You have opted to ... read more

Pros: Reliable, Overclockable, Intel Cons: Intel, Overpriced compared to AMD's Duron
Summary: While Intel's Celeron is a good deal for anyone looking for a cheap or highly overclockable processor, it is not nearly as great deal as AMD's Duron. The Duron outperforms the Celeron in every benchmark out there, it is cheaper (an 800mhz Duron can be ... read more

Pros: Intel Cons: Not top of the line
Summary: After biting our nails waiting for Intel to come out with an answer to AMD’s Athon and new entries into the low cost market such as Cyrix’s Joshua. The Pentium III is obviously too high-end to compete in this segment, and the original Celeron lacks the ... read more

Pros: Compatability Cons: Slow compared to AMD, price

Pros: Good price/perfromance ratio Cons: Duron has better price/performance ratio
Summary: I purchased my Celeron 600 to replace a Pentium II in my Dell system. The Celeron while not as fast as a Pentium III or the same speed is pretty close in terms of performance (the Celeron only has half the on-die cache of the Pentium III). The ... read more

Pros: decent gaming chip, good allround performer Cons: way too expensive compared to the opposition, older technology
Summary: There was once a time when the Celeron served a very good purpose. This is because it was the only chip which served the purpose of bridging the gap between the Cyrix MII/AMD K6-2 at the low end and the Athlon/PIII at the highend. However this is no ... read more

Pros: Good value, easily compatible Cons: Remember, this is no Pentium III, so don't expect miracles.
Summary: When people talk about a Pentium III, they think power-user. When people talk Celeron, they think value. When the first Celerons at 266 and 300 Mhz debuted, only freaks would buy them. Without any L2 cache, the original Celerons were reduced to painful ... read more
