I bought a 60 gb zen xtra before there were any large capacity mp3 players out there. I had to have it replaced as it would not take a file transter. Then the replacement needed to be traded in when the AC input broke(very little use)$139 later. Then this replacement, less than 6 mos later, hard drive broke and they wanted another $139 for another reconditioned unit. Because I have everything labeled using Creative mediasource and my wife has the 8gb player I thought I would get the new incarnation vision M. Same exact problem I had with my original zen xtra and this is on day 3. They will send replacement but I have to pay shipping. Are they HIGH!! I am sending it back to Newegg and buying a 80gb ipod. Oh, the horror! I hate ipods and especially hate itunes. By the way, these units was never dropped nor abused in any way.

I love this player, I have uploaded my entire cd collection and have downloaded tons of music, and I still have like 20gigs left. The software gives you total control over organizing your music and is much more user friendly than apples. I have no complaints about this player. The only thing I had wished it provided has just been updated in the lasted player update which was a cd burning program as part of the organizing software-so now it is really easy to select and burn tracks directly from the player. I love this player. I didn't buy it to wear and run around with- i bought it to centralize and compact my music collection so I can play it from my stereo or car, or take it to parties and for this purpose it is the best product on the market. Not for those who want to jog and listen to their tunes, and that's not what it was made for.

I have had my Zen Xtra for less than 1 year and I did not use it that much. Songs would skip and finally the hard drive just died. Since it is no longer under warranty AND there is a small dent it in, the company said that it would cost at least $140 to fix. Into the trash, it is going.

Pros: Great sound via the User EQ. Lots of storage.
Cons: Poor back light. Hefty, compared to an iPod. Jog wheel is a pain.

Had it for a year. Great sound, but jog wheel system sucks. Can't see back light at night without much squinting. Earphone jack stopped working. Tried to repair it, a big mess ensued. I think the sound with it's User EQ beats the iPod hands down. Fine player if you have patience and cat eyes for night use. Back would never stay on from the beginning. The release clamp kept opening by itself by barely touching it. Finally taped it shut. It's a shame that a unit that sounds this good has some major problems. I did like the removable battery. iRiver is a wonderful albeit sometimes troublesome unit, but the battery is internal and non-removable. What will you do when the battery dies?

I own this MP3 player and I have been very impressed with it. Unfortunately the hard disk went after 11 months and I had it replaced under warranty. Now 11 months further on, the hard disk has gone again. This time, Creative are looking for £164 to replace it and this time will only offer a 6 month warranty. This is poor when you consider it costs about £300. I think £300 machines should last a lot longer. Believe me when I say I treated it with Kid gloves the second time especially.Avoid this one!!
