Pros: Accurate brown settings, roomy, reasonable price, comes in red. Cons: Still trying to find a con.
"Hey Cricket, that red thang ya got thar sure is purdy", my neighbor commented. I said, "yeah, that's my new Cuisinart handy, dandy, cool touch toaster yer lookin' at". Yes, it's red and I love it! Not to mention it's Cuisinart and I have an ongoing love ...
Several of years ago I recall watching a TV program highlighting what some people collect. One of the fellows collected old toasters. Hmmmm... I immediately thought this guy was a putz, but I listened on. He claimed the junkyard near his home had ...
Pros: 4 wide slots, toasts evenly, can toast from frozen, lots of settings Cons: Not compact! I don't really need 9 settings or 4 slots
When we moved into our current home three years ago, one of the things that didn't make the move was our toaster. To put it nicely, it was junk. So, my mother-in-law was kind enough to buy me a new toaster as a gift. At the time my son liked to have ...
Pros: Small footprint, stylish, good toasting results and great value. Cons: Stylish but not as fancy as some other toasters
My old toaster bit the dust a while back and so the search for a new toaster began. I quickly found out that toasters had for the most part evolved into a oversized gizmo from outer space. Now most were much larger and over complicated. Then I found ...
Pros: Great options for different toast at the same time. Bagel and frozen options are nice. Cons: Does toast a bit unevenly. Not easy to clean.
I bought out toaster a JC Penny’s for $49.99. I was looking for a 4 slicer with bagel capabilities and this seemed to fit the bill. I truly enjoy this toaster. As a family, we toast something almost everyday and this is an important appliance in ...
Pros: Even toasting, Extra lift slots, cancel button, smooth operation, toasts various items, wide slots Cons: None so far
I've had this product for a little more than a month. That doesn't sound like much but the toaster gets a lot of use in my house. We have used it to toast bagels, frozen pancakes, toaster pastries and bread. I was especially surprised to see how well ...
Pros: Attractive. Easy to use. Backlit numbers. Cancel button. Extra lift feature. Cool sides. Safe design. Cons: Doesn't toast evenly, some slots burn, others don't toast. Pops up almost too quietly.
Bought this at Christmas '04. There are quite a few models of 4-slice toasters. Some look cheap, or are brands I've never heard of. Prices run from $20 to $300. I was looking for a replacement for a 6-yr old KitchenAid that used ceramic rods as ...
Pros: Small and Stylish for a 4 slice toaster Cons: Cooks unevenly and settings are not accurate
I would not recommend this toaster. This is the second one I have tried since returning the first one! You have to put the toast down at least 2 times since it toasts unevenly.
Even on a high setting it doesn't toast correctly.
I would not recommend this toaster. I also tried the Avanti toaster and had the same issues. I am now ordering a Kitchen Aid 4 slice toaster.
Do not buy this toaster! by ta2me92704 ,May 26 '06
Pros: The red one looks nice. Cons: Toasts unevenly. My cat can make better toast with a blowtorch.
If it is true, as the review by toasterbaby claims, that Cuisinart designed this thing to toast unevenly, save your money folks.
The unevenness of toasting is astounding. It is ridiculous. It is unacceptable. If I had bought a Chinese toaster for $5.00, I would expect this.
For a toaster in the $50-70 range if designers wanted the option of uneven toasting, (for what reason I cannot imagine) then for gods sake, give us the OPTION!!! Give us a switch or setting!!! Say something on the box...."This Model Toasts Unevenly." Do not try to cover your a$$ by saying "Oh, it's supposed to do that."
Trust what the other posters are saying by rms59 ,Oct 16 '06
Pros: Its a compact unit which is nice Cons: It toasts only one side dark the other light
This toaster is compact. That I will give it. However, it toasts brown on one side only on all four slots. The other side has no indication of being toasted.
I found the heating wires used in this toaster are different widths for each side. One side of the toaster is a wider width and the other is narrower. The smaller width doesn't heat up enough.
Pros: 4 slices, style, size, options Cons: Toasts unevenly, same setting produces different results every use.
This toaster was a gift to replace a previous uneven toasting toaster. The gift-giver figured you couldn't go wrong with a Cuisinart - unfortunately, it turned out to be a bust.
This toaster, though fancy with a great brand name, does not toast evenly. Every time I've got it set on one setting, it produces different results. Even from the left two slices to the right two slices! Having one side of my toast burned and the other uncooked doesn't work for me.
Time to try something else. Sorry Cuisinart - this product doesn't live up to your name and reputation.
This is a ' Street Toaster ' ( See Below ) by dadf ,Aug 18 '07
Pros: It was priced right, looks nice, easy to keep clean. Cons: From day one it has never toasted properly.
I needed a new toaster but what I got was a very large Paperweight that looks like a Toaster.
I'll make this short, no matter if I am toasting one slice or four slices of bread, muffin or bagel it will only toasts one side properly. To its credit, its poor performance is consistent.
Since consumers have given both positive reviews and negative reviews on this toaster, it's obvious the problem is a design flaw that allows assembly of the eight heating elements that only four elements are getting the proper wattage. Must be a bad Traflinga. That's it. I'll tell Cuisinart to send me a new Traflinga. Made in China, what a surprise. Throw this piece of junk out in the street!
Cuisinart CPT-140 4-slice Toaster by toasterbaby ,Mar 17 '05
Pros: Styling was much a big plus. Liked the condensed design. Cons: Lack of balanced toasting made this unacceptable regardless of the styling.
After searching out the reviews, we purchased the high-rated Cuisinart CPT-140 toaster in black. The first effort to toast 2 slices of fresh bread yielded less than perfect results. The bread was toasted (on number 5) OK on one side, but white on the other side! It required that we flip the bread over and re-toast the other side!
Calling Cuisinart was a further study in frustration......We were told that Cuisinarts product engineers purposely designed the new toasters to brown darker on one side than the other!!! When we told them our experience... that to get the bread toasted on both sides, it was over-burned one side, they gave no explanation. Our 2nd call was to the supplier and they acknowledged they had many Cuisinart toasters returned for the same complaint.
Why does it brown more on one side ? by jhturnell ,Jan 23 '08
Pros: Compact, 1800 Watts, 9 Browning Settings, 3 year Warranty,
Stylish, Good Price Cons: None if you understand the design!
After reading all these reviews, I noticed that a lot of people noted that bread was browning more on one side and not as much on other. The reason is it is designed to do that. Look closely at the gage of heating wire, the outside wall wire is thicker than inside. This keeps your bread from turning into ash. It provides some moisture in your bread. When doing bagels make sure your cut portion is facing out and turn bagel button on. Real simple. This unit is capable of black toasting anything. 9 Browning settings. That is what 1800 watts does. Consumer Reports (11-04) rated this brand #1 in toasters and toaster ovens . Find one with more wattage. Do what my mother use to do to me. If you want dark toasted flip it one way, light toasted the other way. Whats your pleasure! Thanks for reading. J.T.
Should a toaster brown BOTH sides or what? by pkviss ,Mar 27 '09
Pros: Expected all the great settings to actually work Cons: Expected all the great settings would actually work
I bought a Cuisinart 4-slice Toaster and then a Cuisinart Coffee Grinder. I wasn't satisfied with the toaster, which toasts only one side of bread or bagels. But I bought the coffee grinder anyway. It now whines terribly as it tries to grind then it quits completely.
I'm donating the toaster to Good Will, and I've gone back to my small Mr. Coffee grinder. Cuisinart used to be a name that meant something, but if I buy another Cuisinart product, shame on me!
