by nc10 nc10 is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Electronics, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Apr 27 '02
Pros: Value, Value, Value, all the features for the computer/video enthusiast,
Cons: Limited warranty, small remote
WHAT IS THE APEX AD-1500?

The AD-1500 is an entry level DVD/MP3/VCD/SVCD/CD Audio/CD-R/CD-RW player, marketed by Apex Digital. Apex Digital offers a complete line of aggresively priced DVD players, with features, such as MP3 and SVCD...

Good player for the price.

by luclin999 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Mar 16 '02
Pros: Inexpensive, nice picture and sound quality.
Cons: Weak remote. Only 90 days warranty on labor
Note: This review is a revised, updated version of one of my first (very poorly written) epinions, which has since been removed from the site.

I was introduced to DVDs about 2 years ago. My roommate at the time had bought a...

Apex AD-1500: Best Price. Plays Everything. What more could you want?

by bigd99999 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 18 '05
Pros: Plays any freaking thing; lightweight; best priced player on the market
Cons: Lackluster surround sound; limited speed; remote control sucks
In 2000, I went on a search for a special DVD Player that I needed. I needed a DVD Player that could play anything. Back then, I used to download entire episodes of anime and television shows and burn them on VCD for safe keeping. This was the era ...

A different philosophy

by yoshimato , Jan 09 '02
Pros: Good price with no lacking in features
Cons: Too light to the touch
I was so impressed by this machine that I have to write something about it, even though a lot of comprehensive reviews existed. I have never heard of Apex before, but now multi-brand remote controls starts to have the code for Apex. It is going have...

Cons: Small remote and buttons, loud, limited warranty (90 days), NO advanced outputs (component, optical)

Go ahead and buy this player

by chrispv , Jul 08 '02
Pros: More features for the price than anything else on the market.
Cons: Picture will freeze for one second.
First of all, I didn't expect high end performance from a player that was under $100. If your looking for a top notch quality machine, your going to have to spend some dough. If your looking to get an above-average, for the price DVD player, this is...

A Sweet Little DVD Player for the price.

by tkeats , Feb 20 '02
Pros: Small Footprint, easily setup. Inexpensive. DVD, VCD, MP3 and CDR Playback.
Cons: Small Footprint, no Super Video Connector cable.
For some time now I have been watching the prices of the DVD Players in the Walmart, Futureshop, and Canadian Tire. I have always put it off until now.

What influenced my decision? Well to put it bluntly, I had begun my DVD collection and...

Good DVD player at a low cost

by awopinions , Apr 21 '02
Pros: Good Price, Picture and Sound quality
Cons: The remote sensor is very weak
I had some apprehension buying a DVD player for $89, especially when comparing the Apex to the cost of a Sony, Sanyo, or other bigger named electronic manufacturers. However, the price was right and I decided to give it a try. Well it turned out to be a...

Why I bought this DVD player

by stevesilmer , Mar 17 '02
Pros: low price, feature rich, small
Cons: remote control a little weird
I recently purchased the AD-1500 for $69 at Circuit City. Although I am not a stranger to the DVD, this was my first DVD player. I couldn't resist it at this price, especially with some key features that this device offers. For instance, in addition...

Very affordable, extremely versatile DVD player.

by wangarific , Apr 28 '03
Pros: This thing will play ANYTHING. MP3s, VCD, SVCDs, DVDs, burned DVDs.
Cons: If you're one for a fancy looking unit, go elsewhere.
Apex is known for very inexpensive products from their DVD players, where I first heard of them, to their televisions (I recently saw a 51" flat screen HDTV for about $1000) but that does not mean they are composed of cheap components.

I...

You get more than you paid for!

by jmitchel , Mar 05 '02
Pros: Will play just about anything you throw at it.
Cons: Could be heavier.
This Apex AD-1500 DVD player will play just about anything you put in it. I have played MP3, DVD, SVCD, and VCD disks in it without any problems. I make the SVCD, and VCD disks on my computer, from my digital camcorder. This player handles scratched...

Cheap, or just inexpensive?

by wmacblue , Dec 26 '01
Pros: Decent quality, some unexpected features and a SUPER low price
Cons: At $79, what's not to like?!
We don't watch that many movies, we only have a 19" TV (and have no intention of getting a bigger one) and we only use the stereo speakers on our TV for sound output: a "featured" DVD would be more or less wasted on us. We needed cheap, available (the...

Best $70 ever spent!

by tygriss , Mar 23 '02
Pros: Plays DVDs, MP3's, CD's, and VCD's
Cons: Can't fast forward through MP3's. Remote isn't too strong
I bought the Apex because my coworkers sold me on it. Under $80 (at the time ) - it plays mp3s, dvds, cds, and vcds (what are vcds??). And, they were tired of hearing me complain about not having a dvd player.

What I like is that it was...

Great buy!

by drater81 , Apr 23 '02
Pros: Great price, Reasonable quality
Cons: Minimal features
I recommend this player. I purchased one of these players from a local WalMart. It has been nearly one year now, and it is still going strong. I had tried a cheaper brand player (Ornitron) made in China that had fewer features, and had been very...
