Pros: Awesome picture.
Small and compact for easy travel.
(Advertised as) DVD-RAM and DVD-R compatible. Cons: Battery life.
Sometimes has trouble with scratched DVD's, some DVD-R's and VCDs.
Since the arrival of DVD technology on the US market I've probably owned a total of 8 DVD playing devices. Everything from your generic, ultra discount DVD player from Sam's Club to a Playstation 2 to three different Samsung DVD drives on my desktop....
Pros: Nice Big 9" Screen Cons: Watch the Battery Life
OK, I'm a relative newcomer to the whole DVD scene. But I've made up for it very quickly. I got my first DVD player about 5 months ago - a Panasonic DVD LV-70 portable with a 7" screen. Now I have 4 DVD players.
Pros: Excellent picture and sound for size Cons: Price from some sources an issue
I did all my comparison shopping online - there were many rave reviews for Panasonic portable DVD players - especially this one. I had originally decided on a 7" screen - - - am glad, now, that I bought this one - the 9" screen is great. I am not sure ...
Pros: Outstanding Picture, Easy to learn to use, very light and thin even with snap-on battery. Cons: Expensive
During my last flight I sat 3 1/2 hours in Detroit waiting for a connecting flight and then had a 4 hour flight. Northwest airlines no longer show movies. What a boring flight. On the way home I ran into a kiosk (Inmotion Pictures) in the Las Vegas...
Pros: Exceptional sound. Sturdy design. Large display. Cons: Picture resolution is fair at best.
I purchased this toy mainly for long plane trips. With a 9 inch screen and the ability to play many different video formats, I thought this unit would be the best choice. Upon playing my first DVD, my immediate reaction was that the picture quality was...
Pros: Fine when it worked. Cons: Never worked consistently.
Have had "tiling" problems since the first week. Panasonic Customer Service recommended spacing the unit above any surface to allow more air circulation (said tiling may be due to overheating). This seemed to solve the problem for the most part. Not completely, tho. Unit still overheats.
Now, the unit begins the "Reading" phase and won't progress beyond that. In other words...it doesn't work at all! This after only one year and light usage.
I expected more from Panasonic, especially at this pricepoint.

Pros: Sharp and bright screen, very good sound from built-in speakers, high quality Cons: More expensive than Apex
Other manufacturers like Apex, Initial and Shinco make decent portable DVD players at a lower price, but Panasonic products are simply the best in terms of quality. From sharp pictures on the 9" (diagonal) active-matrix screen to booming sound (even from the built-in speakers) to build quality, you can't do better than this. The price is high, but you do get what you pay for. If you plan to watch DVDs on the road only occasionally, an Apex or Initial would suffice and you do get a lot of bang for the buck. If you watch DVDs a lot, though, I highly recommend the Panasonic. I have this and an Initial product and trust me, the quality difference is just huge.
Panasonic DVD-LA95 is the BEST Portable DVD Player by salvarado ,Feb 16 '04
Pros: EVERYTHING!!!! Cons: Nothing!!
I needed a portable DVD player for trips, my job, & I also use it in the kitchen. I purchased the LA95 because of all the great reviews and boy were they right. I ordered it on-line though BestBuy and it was back ordered for 5 weeks so that was a pain but once I got it everything was great. I love it I've been using it about 5 times a week for the past 2 months and I never have any problems. The screen is a large 9in and very clear at many angles. Some other brands it's not as clear when viewed at an angle(if more than two people are watching). I can watch 4 movies in a row and it doesn't heat up or shut off. my friend's player(another brand) heats up and shuts off after 1 movie.I think the sound is great especially considering the size of the speaker. The battery is pretty good. I can watch 1-2 movies with it depending on how long they are. I use it mostly plugged in anyway so it doesn't bother me. I LOVE this player.
This unit is the only one with the main battery system built into the unit. That means much easier and thinner than the rest. For extended use, one must purchase the attachable battery which will give 6 hours. I have seen just about all units made today and this is the best by far!! You won't go wrong.
This player is great. I recently bought one from a video rental place in the airports (Inmotion?). The price was competitive $899. I do recommend getting the extra battery with it. It brings the total to 6.5 hours of life. This player is the most portable of all the larger-than 7" screens I tested. Very lightweight and the built in battery is great for 1 movie. The screen is great and the sound system is the best one out there. Makes my travel much less taxing.

This is a wonderful, portable DVD player! It is very thin, lightweight, and full of features. The size of the widescreen makes a big difference -- I can't go back to my older, smaller screen, portable DVD player now! Even though the picture quality is not as sharp as I'd like, it's still pretty good. Sound is great with earphones. The extra battery is a plus and well worth getting as it extends the play time many more hours. It will be great for traveling or entertainment if you happen to lose power at home! Got a great price for the DVD player and battery (shop around!). I'm very happy I purchased this particular brand and model. This is one of my best purchases -- you won't be sorry.

I purchased this toy mainly for long plane trips. With a 9 inch screen and the ability to play many different video formats, I thought this unit would be the best choice.
Upon playing my first DVD, my immediate reaction was that the picture quality was not very good. The resolution is poor. The color aspects of the screen are very good. Very vibrant color and brightness! "Grainy" is how my roommates described the picture quality.
The internal speakers are virtually useless; however, plug a good pair of bud type headphones and you can hear everything! The sound is extremely crisp. I'm looking for an excellent pair of surround headphones (ideally with an equalizer attached to control bass).
I haven't traveled with the unit yet so I'm not aware of the battery life. Then again, I'm purchasing a Panasonic adapter to plug into an airline seat so I'm not (too) worried about the battery. Overall, I like the unit but wish the picture was as exceptional as the sound.

This a great machine with lots of great features which are fairly easy to use. When using headphones, the sound is spectacular. The screen size is plenty big and the clarity is amazing. The subtitle option is also very handy. The only drawbacks I noticed is that the remote control does not have a volume adjustment on it. This is a huge disappointment for me and unfortunately did not notice 'til after I purchased the player. I assumed that a machine of this price and caliber would have to include at the very least, the most basic of features.
It's very difficult to hear some of the audio, especially speech, while action sounds are overbearing sometimes. This could be due to the fact that the speakers are located on the lower half of the player instead of the top half where the screen is. The sound projects up instead of out at you. Overall, I would have to recommend this player with a high rating because of it's features, picture quality, and reliablity.
