Pros: Great Sound/Picture Cons: Only plays one type of CD-RW
I purchased this DVD player about a month ago, and I have not been disappointed yet! The sound and picture quality that this player gives are excellent. My only complaint would be that it doesn't play most CD-Rs, although I have heard that you can use...

My birthday is coming up soon (I'm sure that your cards are already en route, so I'll thank you all now), so my parents decided to splurge on me (it's one of those BIG birthdays). I was torn between a new camera, a collection of old KISS albums,...

The sound and picture quality that this player gives are excellent. The on-screen menu features are easy to use and very informative. I have this hooked up to a Sony STR-DE545 receiver and Sony VAE315 and SONY SS-MB215 speakers.

Good player for someone that rents DVD movies and has a good 5.1 system.
Bad player for someone that has a digital camera or records CDs.
I will not recommend this to a friend.
My player was purchased the day it was released for sale & I loved it. I paid over 500.00 for it the day it came out. Since then the laser has gone out So I called SONY. They told me that my player was 2 months out of warranty so they could do nothing about it. Also the laser in this player is not made anymore so basically I will either have to buy another DVD player. They said if there were anymore of these lasers it would cost me 275.00 for the laser & 150.00 to have it installed. Thank YOu Sony for your excellent customer service. Today Im going to but a 50in Plasma Toshiba & a Toshiba dvd player. Maybe ther products are a little better.
Stopped loading disks after ~15 month. by maksimka ,Oct 24 '03
Pros: good features Cons: poor quality
Got this as a present, was very happy with features at first. After a few month the player became picky about which DVDs it would play or simply reject ( It seemed to hate popular rentals ). Then I found Kazaa and have not used it for a few months. Tried it again recently & the it now does not load ANY disks now, used a cleaning disk to no avail....
