Excellent Value, A Great Utility DVD/SACD Player in the 200 Dollar Range

by nick1326 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Apr 14 '03
Pros: Inexpensive and fairly versatile. Good feature list, good bang for buck
Cons: No DVD-A, not total SACD compatibility, A good utility DVD player
While it's been proven Sony is a bit behind in the top-shelf audiphile-grade class, Sony has done its homework and has certainly improved its offerings in the consumer grade class. Not too long ago, there were many complaints about Sony's sub-$300...

Pros: Great picture and sound; Inexpensive
Cons: Will not play DVD audio discs

This player does virtually everything you could want from a home component DVD player. It plays the standard CDs as well as CD-Rs, most CD-RWs, MP3 encoded discs, and SACDs. No zoom option, but a cool replay feature.

SONY DVP-NS755V DVD Player
by tonyc2003 ,Nov 16 '03
Pros: Very good picture quality, easy of use
Cons: Sound quality is not as good, sounds tinny and distant
While I agree with Nick in terms of picture quality, I find the audio quality is not as good.

I have a Malata MDVD-6800 DVD player. I find the sound from Malata is detailed, warm and open. Whereas the SONY DVP-NS755V sounds tinny and distant. Perhaps I did not set it right. I set the SONY DVD player to full range speakers.

I would like to hear from readers, including Nick, on how to improve the audio quality from this DVD player.
I have a Marantz SR-18EX receiver connected to 6 Dahlquist DQ10 speakers.

Absolute Junk!
by pauldo ,May 29 '04
Pros: There is none!
Cons: Poor Sony customer service, Sony authorized repair couldn't fix unit. $300.00 down the drain!
Purchased this unit new and from day one, the unit was defective! Took unit back four times for repair. Sony does not stand by its warranty and refused to exchange the defective product. Unit skips and then slows down with horrible results. In conclusion, I would never buy another Sony product again as their quality as well as their customer service is the worst I have ever encountered.
