Pros: easy set up, simple to use, reliable, extra A/V plug in front, combo Cons: minor glitches, odd remote with ill-placed unlit keys
The great audio-video upgrade-on-a-budget began in Summer 2004. Honey and I had decided that the new house deserved a new TV, Stereo System, and DVD player (well, ok, we decided we deserved those things, but that's semantics). We didn't want to ...

Missing key features
by cookiecooky ,Nov 23 '04
Pros: Inexpensive. Cons: No auto-clock set. No Kodak Photo CD playback.
This unit is missing a few keys features that most VCR's and DVD's have these days.
No auto-clock set. The clock must be set manually. Most VCR's can do this automatically these days from OTA broadcast signals.
No Kodak Photo CD playback (per the instruction manual).
JPEG player doesn't have a slide show mode (handy to just pop in a disk and watch the show).
User manual contains poor English.

Waist of money

Pros: I can't think of anything good to say about it...It's silver. Cons: DVD failed after 6 months.
This product didn't last too long. After about 6-7 months the dvd player stopped playing certain DVDs. Keep getting an error message saying 'Bad Disk'. Sometimes if we eject the dvd and put it back in, it will work. But it keeps getting worse and worse. Movies we could watch a month ago don't work anymore. You might think that this is due to scratches or wear on the DVD (if there is such a thing) but I have a different dvd player which doesn't have any problem playing them. And it is not that these are home made DVDs. That I would understand. These are bonified store bought DVDs like The Incredibles, Star Wars and such.
The Daewoo makes a good door stop, seriously though, we still keep the Daewoo around because it has the VCR in it which works. I have had to purchase another dvd player to take over that functionality.

Daewoo DV-6T834B
by brucepet867 ,Sep 30 '04
Pros: Easy install. Nice finish. Cons: Counter-intuitive keys on the remote. Could use illuminated keys on remote.
This unit has been very reliable. It's a nice low frills deck that was very easy to install and has been very easy to use. I would like lighted keys on the remote control. The key placement of the remote could be more intuitively located. I find myself pressing the VCR controls when trying to navigate a DVDs menu.
