Pros: Inexpensive, the same features as many of the higher-priced units Cons: Sometimes temperamental, limited lifespan
I purchased my Daewoo VCR/DVD combo unit approximately 2 years ago at Target. I hadn't planned to buy a DVD player, but when one of my VCRs broke down and I went to Target for a cheap replacement, I found that I could spend approximately $45 on a VCR ...

Combo is the way to go

Pros: Surround sound compatible and two video in channels make this unit perfect for gaming. Cons: If the power were to blink, you must reset your video in option.
I have had this model for over a year now and I have to say it is the best piece of home entertainment equipment I have ever bought. This neat little toy features an eight head VCR that offers multiple fast forward and rewind speeds. A DVD quick copy feature, DVD to VHS. Front side RCA input, multiple rear audio out types, easy to read display and indicator lights, small, easy to use remote, as well as a simple on screen menu display making programing the VCR easy. As well as being able to watch a DVD or play a video game while taping something from television are other options that make this product great. It may be a bit larger then your average VCR of today, although, it still fits perfectly on my entertainment center.

Did an extensive online search...

Did an extensive online search over a 7 day period for best overall unit, this was my #1 pick but was not in stock at local electronics retailers. Noted in a review that one had been purchased at a Target store so I drove the 35 miles and found it (only one left not including the display model), had it up and running 15 minutes after getting home. Good owners manual but the troubleshooting section should have been checked before printing as the wording is difficult to understand. The only problem is that when I played a rented DVD, it kept skipping or freezing until I cleaned the disc but then it was great! Cost was $145 tax which is less than advertised anywhere online for a "new in the box, non-refurb" player, and at least $50 less than my #2 or #3 choices with the same features but available in local stores
Good price and features, good looking and has a substantial feel to it. Well worth the drive, if you can find one, buy it!
