Froze my Wine Bottles
by rj3464 ,Dec 03 '06
Pros: Two-zone temperature, easy to set controls, easy to clean. Cons: Horrible customer service
I bought this unit from the Beverage Factory. It worked beautifully for a year--no significant problem with noise and absolutely no condensation leakage. Then, one day, the temperature control malfunctioned sending 30 bottles of wine to the deep freeze. The lost wine was about the same value as the price of the fridge!!
Danby customer service is perpetual game of phone-tag.

Not real thrilled with this chiller
by do2004 ,Jul 17 '04
Pros: stays cold on the bottom and warmer on the top. Cons: glass fogs up and leaks water on the floor
Bought it on ebay from /www.beveragefactory.com,
the chiller fogs up and the bottom of the glass sweats real bad. Water drips on the floor. Beveragefactory.com told me to put rain x on the glass...yea right if you want a wet floor under the chiller then buy this !

You can hear your wine cooling
by tommy151 ,Feb 14 '06
Pros: No leaks, no fogging, nice looks Cons: Too loud, shelves are tight
This wine cooler appeared to be on the upper end of quality with good storage capacity. The humidifier reservoir (a small plastic bowl which sits on a self) is used to keep the corks from drying out. As as substitute, you could put a small child's plastic cup filled with water and advertise this as a special feature. The temperature controls the frig at +/-2 degrees F of set point and appears to function well. The problem with this unit is the noise. Once the temperature has warmed past the set point by 2 degrees, the compressor turns on to begin cooling. This will stay on until the temperature is -2 degrees from set point. This unit is loud. I have been in friends houses with wine coolers and never heard the units operating. With this cooler you know it is cooling because you hear it. Certainly not as loud a a margarita machine but still very annoying from any where in the room. This cooler is simply too loud for paying $500.

Not a Quality Product
by njmartin ,Nov 05 '07
Pros: Noisy, Bad customer service, poor quality product Cons: Dual Zone, Nice appearance
We bought this wine cooler a little over a year ago and are about probably about to trash it and buy a real one.
We bought it on the salespersons recommendation.
We liked the style and the dual zone function.
It was rather noisy but as this was our first wine cooler we didnt know what to expect. It seemed to run constantly and after calling Danby they said this is normal for the first 24-48hrs.
After about 6mths the fan bearing gave out and we had to play phone tag with Danby and they came out and replaced it.
Now after another 7mths the unit is dead again and I am about to call Danby to find out what the next steps are.
My feeling is that while it looks nice and has some good features the cooler compressor and fan seem to be too small or underpowered to run the unit. This leads it to run more than really needed and this shortens the live of the parts.
