Pros: Great feel/look/quality. Cons: Dismal customer service when there's a problem.
I got the Dell Axim X3i 400 MHZ Pocket PC November 2003 as a gift from my partner. I see that Dell's changed the model number to X3O along w/ processor speeds. I figured anyone buying a used one on e-bay might get some use out of my experience w/ the ...

Cons: - no CF slot
- Plastic body
- Center button difficult to use
I bought the Dell Axim X3i because I wanted to use the wifi from my wireless network at home to surf the internet or retrieve emails without having to use a computer. I like the sensation of freedom while moving around the house and being able to get ...
Pros: Reasonable price, Dell service, customizable, extremely well designed. Cons: Some concern about the durability of the peripherals. Possible conflict in some software. Returned product.
I am brand new to Pocket PC's but I am really pleased with this one. I purchased a dell, first because I had purchased my computer through them and was really pleased with that experience. Also, because PC Magazine rates the Dell X3i as a best buy (I ...
Pros: WIFI for dummies built in, Cool docking station, 199 price, SD slot, Works flawlessly. Cons: Battery life, Screen brightness, Customer Service
First the Good. WIFI The WIFI set up took me about 5 minutes to connect to my home network, I can check email on the fly, or do an Ebay bid in seconds. Everything works!! I have had it for about a month, and all the features do what they ...
Pros: Wifi performs well, small size, new PXA263 processor Cons: high DOA rate
I purchased the x3i as a replacement for my x5, despite my interest in Toshiba's devices with integrated wireless. It turns out that when compared to a friend's Toshiba, the Dell x3i is the better device. The x3 is currently (at the time of this ...
Pros: WiFi works well, lots of Microsoft apps to go with it. Cons: WiFi sucks the battery dry fast, customer services sucks with Dell
The Dell Axim X3i 400 MHZ Pocket PC. It was the replacement of my old Palm m-100. Now to compare the two is imposable they are worlds apart. The Dell offers so much more. Some of the features I use a lot some not at all but you never know. How about ...
Pros: Reliable wireless, imports/exports are easy. Cons: Dell Support run arounds. Center Button very hard to use.
This is my first hand held, and have to say that Epinions.com really help me make my mind up. I purchased the Dell X3i and have been hooked ever since. The wireless part of it works flawlessly at home using my linksys router and at work using 3com ...
Pros: excellent value; crisp screen; still "pocket sized"; wifi; enough buttons Cons: only those inherited by the Pocket PC OS
A great value if you've decided that you want a Pocket PC device that does WiFi easily. It maintains the small size that I expect of a PDA, yet has enough buttons to be quick at my command for voice recording or a custom app reprogrammed to one of the ...
Pros: small, light, fast, built-in WiFi, Secure Digital I/O, great value Cons: no built-in Bluetooth, no compact flash slot, directional pad not the most effective for games
I received this Pocket PC directly from Dell. I got it to replace my Dell Axim X5. I have been pleased with Dell's PDA's before, so I had high expectations for this device. I was not disappointed. This is by far the best PDA that i have used by far. It is so small and light, yet is just as powerful and versatile as any other PDA on the market. I use the built-in WiFi for surfing the internet, instant messaging, and syncing with my home PC. Unfortunately, it does not come with built in Bluetooth, or a Compact Flash slot. This reduces the expandability by a small amount. I was not concerned with this very much as i do not currently have a need for these two features. Video and music playback is very good. Game performance is good also, but the directional buttons i do find a little awkward at times.
Pros: Wifi, weight and size, screen, software package Cons: Pointer pad difficult to use
I have owned 2 Palms and an IPAQ and the Dell Axim X3i beats them all hands down.
Built in wireless was key for my house since I recently went to a wireless network. Had some difficulty connecting to my network as it is WEP protected but I eventually figured it out. WiFi novices might have problems and might need some customer assistance. Bottom line, follow the manual and on screen directions.
The price was right as I bought it during a Dell sale and had an Atari Retro SD card thrown in for free.
Dell Axim X3i Perfect Handheld by arjmike ,Feb 08 '04
Pros: Inexpensive, powerful, compact size Cons: lacks bluetooth and compact flash
I purchased this product direct from dells website for 297 dollars new, came with a cradle, and a protective carry case. This handheld has the built in WiFi which is a breeze to connect (basically just turn it on). The battery life is a lot better then the reviews give it. The processor is really fast, I play divx, wmv, and mp3s while surfing the web. This unit is compact and light and the sdio slot give you extra storage. The x3i does not have Bluetooth which might be a problem for some people but it can be added via sdio (also a new version will support it). The lack of a compact flash slot doesn't really bother me, I dont have any devices that require it, plus sdio has gps devices and Bluetooth... Etc... I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that wants a portable, powerful handheld pc for cheap; the standard x3 are listed less then 180 on the website.
Satisfied - good screen and capabilities by b400 ,May 19 '05
Pros: Good screen, wireless works well Cons: Nothing major, although I recommend purchasing an after-market protective "wallet" for it and synchronization cable.
I've used a Palm before, but this unit was purchased by employer since we are a Windows-oriented shop. I've been please with the wireless, and haven't seen the short-range issue someone else reported here. I can sit at a waterfront shopping area here and pick up multiple hot-spots from restaurants and free city Internet access. The Internet surfing is surprisingly functional, as the screen is nice and speed is decent. While I've heard of some Windows-based PDAs locking up or crashing regularly, mine does so seldomly, and the recessed reset button on the back fixes it every time. I also synchronize my notes, calendar, tasks to corporate Lotus Notes and found it work well -- much more reliable than my new Blackberry cell phone. I still carry this unit despite having the Blackberry, so that I can actually use expanded memory capabilities and view documents, etc.
Pros: Very light, very easy to learn how to use. Cons: Poor reception on wireless antenna.
I purchased from Dell's "refurb specials" page. $259 with shipping and tax. I have a wireless router at home and use my laptop on it all the time with a full strength meter. The Axim only seems to give me about a 12' radius. So I would recommend this model only if you're not too concerned about longer distance wireless connections.
