Pros: It plays music. Cons: Heavy, bulky, bad customer service, freezes up.
Pretty good sound, nothing spectacular (it all depends on the headphones anyway). Pretty easy to function with the menus, although not user friendly when adding music to device. The software that comes with it is Musicmatch, which could be another ...

Pros: Great storage, well built, stupendous battery life, cheaper than iPod, no real compromise in quality. Cons: Headphones could be better.
I bought the 20GB model last month, but not before reading all the reviews on this page and comparing it w/ about 5 other players from different manufacturers including iPod. First off, before i start this review i want to tell all you iFanatics and ...

Pros: Sound, Interface, Looks, Ability To Store Files Other Than Music, Storage Space, Physical Size Cons: MUSICMATCH JUKEBOX SOFTWARE (BEWARE!!!)
I did a lot of research on the iPod, Dell Digital Jukebox, and a few different Rio products. I ended up going for the Dell because of the price and I liked the way it looked. There is great sound quality although I did upgrade the headphones after I ...

Pros: Price, Storage, battery life. Cons: Non Removable battery, average headphones
I've had my DJ20 for about 2 months now so it was enough time to find out all the pros and cons. First for the basic specs. Platforms: Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP Dimensions: 4.1" x 2.7" x 0.86" Weight: 7.6 oz. Playable music format(s): ...

Pros: Price, Simplicity Cons: The Music Match software has given me problems
Customer service can be a gamble
This review is based off of my individual experience of ordering a Dell DJ20 package, including a Dell DJ20, a premium leather case, and a Transcast. I ordered this package because I assumed it would meet all of my needs in an mp3 player: I wanted ...

Pros: Nice player with decent sound Cons: Hard drive is not reliable, crashes frequently.
This is not meant as a full review, it is meant as a warning to avoid this product at all costs. I have owned a first generation Dell DJ 20 for 10 months. I am about to receive my THIRD one. The hard drives in the first two crashed. The first one ...

Pros: Cheap (but you get what you pay for) Cons: Unreliable, after 1 year warranty expires no repair services, battery can't be replaced.
I am a big fan of Dell products and service, at least I was until my experience with the Dell Jukebox. I purchased one as a gift for Christmas of 2003. It doesn't offer anything that can't be found on other popular MP3 players, but it was cheap. I soon ...

Pros: price. Cons: bulky, not trendy, heavy, can't rate the songs, disposable player.
I have always been a fan of Dell products, first PCs, printers and now the DJ. I got mine for about $250 in April 04, it worked fine, i have no complains (only a few things they can do better is the case, which they did already, and the software) but ...

Pros: 1) Easy to use
2) Not an Apple product Cons: 1) No repair service.
2) Poor WMA support
3) Unprotected headphone jack
This is a nice audio player, but I'd really like to see them reduce the size of the device. It does have a few problems though: 1) As a small portable device the unit will likely find itself in situations where it can be damaged. If you do damage ...

Pros: It holds 20 megabytes
Sound system is decent Cons: No MACINTOSH
You have to pay $19 more for the software
Clumsy unit
Well, my ipod is dead, so I went shopping for a new MP3 player. The ipod was a generation 2, so although disappointed that it's broken, it's not worth it to repair, and its time to get a new player. A friend had the DJ-20 and liked it, so I got the ...

Pros: Long battery life, durable case, nice PC interface Cons: Bulky, low sound quality, no firewire option, no interface with car head units
This is a decent MP3 player / external storage device. I got this before the Dell DJ Explorer came out and had to use it with the MusicMatch JunkBox at first. That sucked! Now with the Dell DJ Explorer you can access the music database just like you ...

Pros: Size, durability, memory, outstanding sound recording quality; how did I ever live without it!? Cons: never want to put it down; all the jealousy it provokes!
I bought this MP3 player, not for the MP3 player, but because it was the best recorder on the market for the money. I had been looking at the IRiver (279 bucks for 512 mb~!) and decided to spend the extra 20 bucks and get 20GB! If this thing had ...

Pros: Price not bad, easy to navigate menu Cons: Customer service, bulky
When I got my DJ20, they were on sale – they were already cheaper than Ipods and the sale clinched the deal for me. The belt clip broke in a few months, but that’s just a little plastic piece. They gave me a new one with no problems. Then, the DJ20 ...

Expensive Paper weight
by nynaeveas ,May 07 '06
Pros: Heavy enough to keep paper from flying away. Cons: Slow and computer interface is bad
This was a waste of money. It boots really slow, takes forever to change songs and don't even try to change anything usless you can give it your 100% attention. My hard drive failed and after being given the run around by Dell for a week, follwed advice given here. Yes, slamming the DJ as hard as you can on a tabletop does fix a hard drive error. Only took 3 slams. Get something other than a Dell.

Great little player
by timlight ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: Great battery life, easy to use interface, good deal! Cons: Not Microsoft PlayforSure compatible, included software is awful
I love this player. I have had it for 4 years and have not had a single problem with it. This machine is built like a tank. I have over 5 days worth of music on it, and have plenty of room left.
The unit has a voice recorder which is great for recording long college lectures or meetings. Robust user interface based on Creative's software.
Long battery life, easy to use interface, good backlighting. Only problem now is that after 3 years I have to push the buttons a little harder than before to get it going.
