Pros: Simple set up, simple use, nice price Cons: none
I purchased two of these computers in October, 2004. My computer broke and my husbands was on it's way out too, so it was time for new computers. Although my husband wanted the fanciest computers on the Dell.com website, our finances simply didn't allow ...
Pros: Reliable, handles all a young child needs, silent, great warranty and support, low cost. Cons: Limited upgrade potential.
This review will first discuss what the Dell Dimension 2400 is, then will discuss reasons to buy one, and will wrap up with a brief strategy for obtaining the best possible deal. What is a Dell Dimension 2400. The Dell Dimension line is a series ...
Pros: Beautifully put together, quality components all around. Nice, speedy system sans Dell software. Cons: their software is tragic, no included driver CD, video poor and upgrade options limited.
The Dell Dimension 2400 is a reasonable machine in all but two areas. My system came with 512 MB of RAM and a 2.6Ghz Celeron-4 upgraded for free from the stock 256 MB and 2.4Ghz Celeron-4, but Dell seems to have different upgrades included free every ...
Pros: none Cons: MUST HAVE MORE RAM!! Little hard drive. No agp slot.
The dell dimension 2400 is an entry level pc. Since it is an entry level you can't expect much from it. It has your basic dvd drive and a cd writer drive. It comes with 256 mb of ram. However that is not completely true. Since it has 64mb integrated ...
Dell Dimension 2400 2.4 GHz by jayman0173 ,Feb 05 '05
Pros: Easy to use
Plenty of Usb inputs Cons: a little slow but i think i have to upgrade the memory
I purchased this Dell because i did not want to spend a great deal of money - Dell had the answer(although, I wish it had the pentium 4 rather than the Celeron). Dell is offering this now (Grrrr -Dell). Still, I am happy with my machine.
Pros: cheap with free flat panel upgrade Cons: poor performance without upgrading
slow performance even with normal desktop/folder operations if you dont opt for more memory and pci video card.
i easily doubled my ram for 10 bucks from compusa but had to use one of 2 pci slots for a graphics card since it doesnt have an apg video card slot. this really improved performance.
btw if considering buying this computer and upgrading by adding a floppy and/or 2nd harddrive later, forget it. dell doesnt include brackets to mount the hardware. stuck with usb external hardrive as a backup drive. also, forget about adding too many stuff into computer, power supply is only rated at 200 watts. some graphics cards and hardrives require more power than that.
Pros: Reasonable priced, excellent service, very reliable. Does all the things most people need. Cons: Had to wait a week to receive it.
Great computer for you bucks. I've had mine over a year with no problems. Great for playing PC games like Need for Speed, EA Sports, Grand Theft Auto, etc....
I have a DVD player and DVD burner, 80 gigs Harddrive. A 19" LCD flat screen monitor.
Reliable, Inexpensive, and Ugly by mrklaw11 ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: Price/value
perfect for basic home use. Cons: Ugly black boxes.
I purchased a remanufactured Dimension 2400 about 6 months ago and haven't had any problems with the machine.
I first used a Dell at work where we have some of the higher end business machines and they have all been very stable so I decided to try one at home.
Don't be afraid to go to the Outlet store at Dell's site and get a remanufactured computer. They are backed by the same warranty and I know multiple people who have purchased one without issues.
This isn't the machine to get though if you are looking to do any serious graphics or gaming. It doesn't have an expansion slot for today's high-end graphics cards.
Bottom Line for a Reason by forestengr94 ,Jan 27 '05
Pros: Cheap, lots of extras Cons: Slow, tends to drag on, freezes up alot
I purchased the Dell 2400 last Christmas and now wish I hadn't. I wanted a Pentium 4 with lots of power for speed of operation and thought this one at 512meg RAM and 2.5ghz would do and boy was I wrong. For a patient person, this computer would be ok but it takes a good 5 minutes or more for everything to load after booting up.
I frequently have to wait a while when I draw up a program as the computer "grinds". I thought I had a virus but the computer checked out. I also frequently get a forced close on a program as well as lock ups and have to reboot (which takes another 5 minutes).
It is a slow computer and if you are production minded like me, better to avoid this turtle and get something with a little more spunk.
Pros: It has a DVD drive. Cons: Freezes up without cause!
Last year I bought one of Dell's 2400 series computers. I had had good success with my previous Dell and figured that this Dell would be even better.
In my opinion this model is, without a doubt, the worst piece of junk (in computers) I've EVER owned. I've had IBM, and a Dell with Windows 98SE, both were good units. THIS computer goes out of it's way to freeze up so that you have to reboot it on a regular basis!
I guess Dell, to make more profit, has chosen to have their computers made in China now...because that is where this one was made!
Pros: EASY TO USE, LOOKS GOOD & WORKS GREAT Cons: YOU MAY HAVE TO ADD A FEW EXTRAS
Okay, okay....so what if this computer is a so called 'entry level' system. You are,(as with most any computer), able to upgrade it to suit your needs, as I did.
The "DELL DIMENSION(tm)2400", ($699.00, as it appeared in my "DELL" catalog)comes with;-
256MB shared * DDR SDRAM (I increased this to 1GB for a nominal fee, to me, of $150.00)
80GB hard drive
48xCD ROM Drive & 48xCD Burner Drive (2nd bay)
Extreme graphics by "Intel"
Intergrated Audio
DELL A215 Speakers
"Intel Pentium"(R)4Processor at 2.66GHz
"Microsoft"(R) "Windows"(R)"XP Home Edition"(R)
17" E773 Monitor
"Intel Pentium"(R)4Processor at 2.66GHz
DELL ALL-in One Printer A920 (This I upgraded to a Dell A960 for only $70.00 more)
My above list is a bit out of order, but you can get the gist of what was both included and what I upgraded (added). I am a self-described computer dummy and somewhat proud of it but, my point here is that (in my opinion), this system is more than enough usable as a 'entry level' computer.
So, add to it or not, whatever you desire, either way this is a very good computer. Have a Great Day.....and "Happy Computing".
