Pros: Good price and good enough quality. Cons: Cheaply made as far as feel.
My fourth child, second daughter is off to college this year. She's the first of our five children that opted to go away to school. This at least helps free up my pc and printer at home. The others did work on my PC, our only home computer. ...
Pros: dirt-simple setup, easy-to-use drivers, inexpensive Cons: fairly slow, moderate text quality, WinXP/2000 support only, typically expensive refills
Well, our old Canon color printer had been in the process of biting the dust - paper jams, funky print quality, the whole nine yards - and there I was in the process of ordering a new computer from Dell Direct. As long as I was talking to the folks down ...
Pros: Good output Cons: Cheap quality, expensive ink, ONLY works on Win2k/XP
This Dell 720 Printer came for free with the Dell Dimension PC I ordered a couple of months ago. I really didn't need another printer since I already have a superior HP model, but it came as part of a free promotion and there wasn’t really an option ...
Pros: Ummmm.....Can't really think of any. Nope. Not a one. Cons: Everything about this demon box.
There was an old comic book motif known as "injury-to-eye," utilized heavily in the pulp era of the early 20th century. When you wanted to make the bad guy look really, really BAD, you let him threaten/perform some act against the hero's eyeball...Dave ...
This disposable, rebranded *Lexmark* printer is an extremely poor value at any price. Don't be fooled by the enticement of getting a free printer with your new Dell computer system. For starters, it comes with "trial-sized" ink cartridges that ...
Pros: Cheap, good for someone who rarely prints Cons: rollers dont work, color is too light most of the time.
I got this Dell printer from a friend who bought a Dell and it came free as a package. They bought a different kind and gave me this one. It prints ok sometimes and other times it's so light you cant see it. I've done the realignment stage on it a few ...
This printer worked well for text and basic graphics (excel graphs) for the first year of ownership.
However, suddenly it decided that it didn't like printing, and every so often will display a "cartridge stall" warning. I have searched this through Yahoo! and it seems to be a fairly common problem. When I tried to contact dell about it, they checked my service tag #, and when they determined that they didn't have to do anything for me. Most have not found a solution and have had to replace it.
As other reviewers have said, this is a throwaway printer. A replacement black cartridge is $27. Color is over $30. Don't even waste your time on this printer. Just go and buy an HP or Canon. You won't regret it
Pros: Extremely cheap, cheap refills Cons: TERRIBLE quality, very slow unless in draft mode, expensive ink carts.
This is by far the worst printer I have ever used. The "8 ppm " for color documents is only for draft mode, which is entirely useless- It's difficult to recognize what the original image even was supposed to be! Using the highest quality setting, it takes about 5 minutes for a color page to print, and it still looks terrible... My 300 DPI HP inket printer purchased in 1991 looks better than this garbage. This is by NO means a photo quality printer, as advertised by Dell! The only good thing about this printer is its extremely low price, around $30 on ebay. The ink is more expensive than the printer itself, which is how Dell makes money on these things. You can, however, get cheap refill kits on Ebay for about 10 bucks, which will fill the cartridge many times!
Dell 720 , just plain Blows as a printer by mstrmstr ,Dec 04 '05
Pros: Sturdy box for alternate shipping. No other pro remark is even remotely possible here. Cons: 100% waste of space and time. This unit prints like a 4 year old... Badly
Yes, This DELL 720 printer just blows. It is as good as handwriting but not much better. Horrible graphics when doing page copy. Uses the most expensive in cartridges.
In fact the price of a single cartridge is the same or more than buying a new printer from aftermarket source. Go Figure.
The only reason I hooked it up was because it came with the computer.. was a waste of time and space for sure.
Replaced with a HP- 4215 which uses cartridges that are half the price and the HP unit has Fax, scan, copy AND prints too.
The only good thing was the box was used to ship a Christmas present.
Pros: Inexpensive, small footprint, uses USB 2.0, NORMAL quality printing is suitable for most documents Cons: Problems with cartridges, print quality is not as good as many other printers
Like everyone else has said, it's worth nothing. Before this printer (came with the new Dell), I used an HP Photosmart for 3 years. The quality between the two is extremely apparent, the HP is still printing great pictures and documents at my brother's house (*grumble*), while this one clogs up. First, the black went out, and Dell sent out a replacement. Once the Black was installed and cleaned, the Color was printing only pink. Setting the printer to print in Black & White is the current use, as they are sending a color cartridge. Since it is under warranty, and they send them pretty quickly, I will take advantage of the warranty replacements, and chuck it when it is no longer under it.
Not Bad If You Are A Windows XP/2000 User by onlineapps ,Jan 23 '07
Pros: Simple to set up, small Cons: Windows 2000 and XP only
I've got three operating systems: Windows, Kubuntu Linux, and Mac OS X. If you only know what Windows is, this printer is for you. If you use pre-Windows 2000, Mac OS X or any type of Linux, keep looking. I got this machine with the Dell Dimension 4700, and have had it for three years. It works fairly well (not recommended for photo printing though), as all of our Dell products have. However, it doesn't provide support for Linux or Mac, which is a BIG problem. Oh, and it only works with XP and 2000, so if you have Windows 98, 95, 3.1 or DOS, this won't work. But what can you say for a $15 printer? Besides, it takes up a tiny amount of room on any surface, and it is very lightweight. I wouldn't buy cartridges from Dell, however (I personally use http://www.ldproducts.com/), WAY too expensive.
Pros: It does look good on the desk Cons: Too much ink wasted by cleaning nozzles
First of all, the ink cartridges are extremely expensive. The color cartridges always has one color which runs out before the others. In my case it is the cyan that goes first. Also, the nozzles are in need of constant cleaning. This uses a lot of ink in the process. This is claimed to be a photo printer, but it has very little features to make this obvious. You can adjust the quality and speed fairly easy, but it doesn't matter much if the nozzles are always clogged. I do give credit to the black ink, which is usually not a problem. You still are wasting black ink while maintaining the color cartridge. I feel it would be better to go to a little more high end printer with separate color cartridges. Right now I am not familiar with their performance either.
Dell 720 - bad buy, and it was free... by rolldabones ,Nov 24 '05
Pros: Decent print quality - when it was working Cons: Eternally clogging jets, poor quality mostly, needed frequent maintenance, expensive refills.
SO... We figured we'd get a printer thrown in "free" when we bought our latest computer. After all, what did we need a DVD drive for? BIG MISTAKE. Sure, there was a short honeymoon period where it was lovely, and just like newlyweds, we both treated each other well, complaining little about each other - my intermittent bursts of printing activity, its occasional initial need for TLC. Then all heck broke loose.
Replacing the cartridge was expensive enough without having to burn through one just to unclog the nozzle through the "printer cleaning" function. The colors frequently came out poorly thereafter, and we became unable to print our manuscripts (for publishing) at home. Recently, fortunately, we upgraded to another printer, and allowed this poor "free" printer to suffer an "Office Space" fate.
Cheap to buy, expensive to run by brian_jurko ,Dec 29 '05
Pros: Pretty good quality. Cheap to buy. Cons: Cartridges too expensive, and nobody but dell seems to sell them.
I picked up this printer for $30 (CAN) using a dell coupon. The picture quality is average at best (but better than my old Canon). My biggest beef with this printer is the cost of the Cartridges. The Colour cartridges run $42, and at best, I get about 50 prints using the regular (not even best) quality option. The worst part is that you can only buy the cartridges from dell. None of the local stores sell dell ink cartridges. Unlike in the past when they used to be interchangable with the Lexmark cartridges, now it MUST be the dell cartridge. I also often run into quality issues with the cartridges. I'll give Dell one plus, when I order online, the cartridges arrive within a day or two max.
