perfect home notebook
by zzanzumer ,Nov 08 '03
Pros: Lightweight, hardy machine Cons: no complaints
An excellent laptop for a variety of uses. The notebook is lightweight and easy to move and use in many environments. The cd-rw is excellent producing high quality copies of music cd's. The Dell system arrives fully functional with all programs installed and ready to use. The computer handles very well, I can run a multitude of programs at once with no problem. Display is perfect on the 14" screen.
I couldn't ask for a better machine!

Notebook for the budget-minded
by bibleteacher ,Mar 26 '04
Pros: Need something basic for school or work? get it! Cons: wish it came with a floppy, but a memory stick does a better job.
Ok, so I looked and looked and looked for a budget laptop. Most mfg.'s have all the bells and whistles and I wasn't looking for those! I just wanted a BASIC notebook so I could do computing from the bedroom, plane or wherever. My kids tend to dominate the desktop so I kind of gave up. My 1100 came with 14.1 screen, 20gb hd, 2.4ghz celeron, dvd/cd-rw. I got it for $674.00 after $100 rebate. Everything works as advertised and I am thrilled. Watching dvd's is great, I don't mind the 14.1 screen at all. I believe the 3 major things people are griping about this notebook is:
Dell support (lack of)--and I hope I never have to call.
Power for playing games. Well, what DO you want for under $700???
Heavy-this this lasts longer than HP, Gateway, Toshiba!

Pretty good.
by pechessmen ,Nov 08 '03
Pros: Affordable and good... Cons: Haven't found many...
I purchased this laptop about 2 months ago and I like it so far. I had some problem with the hard drive (It crashed with no reason - Hitachi), but it happened like a month ago, so I don't think that has anything to do with the hard drive or this laptop. Intel Celeron is good for most of stuff unless you want to play a lot of games on your computer... It is very affordable... It works just fine too. I had to get a lot of softwares on my own, but hardware-wise, this laptop is pretty good.
It is also fairly easy to use... And one of the best things about Dell is that they've got the best customer service. You can just call them whenever you have any problem... They'd support you very well. When my harddrive crashed, they sent me the replaced one in like 2 days.
